Pot luck dinners............
Comments (31)I usually prepare some appetizers and dessert. One of the recipies I do often is Onion Pakora. Try and let me know. I love pot lucks ..you can eat a variety of food and the best part is you need not prepare them all ;) lol! Ingredients: 2 tsp Ghee 1 pinch of Baking soda 1 cup of Bengal gram flour (besan) 1/2 cup of Rice flour 2 or 3 finely chopped onions (lengthwise) 2 Green chilies -- finely chopped 1 tsp Chili powder few cashew nuts/Ground nuts 1 cup of Cilantro (coriander) finely chopped 2 strands of Curry leaves Salt -- to taste Water -- as required Oil -- for deep-frying How to prepare: Place 2 tsp. ghee and baking soda in a mixing bowl. Rub together until frothy. Add the remaining ingredients and combine well, using sufficient water to make a thick batter. Leave it to rest for 15 mts. Heat oil in a heavy frying pan. Make small balls from the batter and drop them into the oil . Fry the pakoras until golden in color. When cooked, drain the excess oil on a sheet of brown paper or paper towels. Serve hot with chutney. This dish goes well with Mint chutney. You can also eat them without any side dish. Here is a link that might be useful: Recipes...See MoreBread crumb pasta?
Comments (5)Oh, so you saw the episide too Linda! I love her cooking, I often take notes and make something she did on the show. After it was over I realized that this would be a good meal to make while my folks are here. I wrote down the list of ingredients for the chicken, I'm going to try it in my crockpot. No way would my dad eat that salsa verde with those peppers and all the onions, but I have another recipe from my "La Cucina Ebraica" cookbook that calls for primarily parsley and a couple of anchovies. I think I could also sub pesto. Anyway, I didn't get the ingredients for the passatelli, or even the name! You are so lucky to have that cookbook! Being vegetarian I can't justify buying it, but I often make something I see her do on the show, or something inspired by it. There are a lot of good recipes on her Web site, but not for the passatelli. I'll give you a shout out if I need more help when the time comes. I wonder if you can store these noodles in the fridge? I get home late from work and usually don't have much time to cook. Cooking gets done here mostly on weekends. Comments (54)oops! sorry. hit a wrong button. I wanted to comment on Campbell's soup. I totally agree about the taste. Dish water is a good discription of the chicken noodle now. and the Tomato, one of my favs, is so bland as well. I remember my mother making soup for us 6 kids and the condensed soup was really what you would call condensed. one regular can of tomato came out of the can in a almost can shaped mass and the directions said to add 3 cans of water! you had to really stir it like mad to get that condensed soup to mix smoothly with the water to create the creamy soup, it was that thicke! and it tasted great! Soup was an economical way to feed a family then. not so much now! Now you only mix in 1 can of water and the "condensed" soup just runs out of the can. really there is no sense adding any water because what you get now is red water, no longer the thick and creamy packed with tomato flavor. bland and watery. same for the chicken noodle. they just keep cheapening the product, like people wont notice. I get the whole "let's get rid of all the artificial crap and high sodium and make this healthier because that's what people want. but if you can't do that and still produce a product that tastes good and people want to buy it, you might as well realize your product is done. people are buying now on nostalgia only and eventually Campell's Soup will be no more....See More- 7 years ago
