Freeze noodles with soup?

I have a good amount of left over turkey that I'm going to cook down to make soup. I want it to be turkey noodle soup, but not sure if I can add the noodles after all the turkey is cooked down, along with the veggies, and then freeze it.

Will the noodles be mush when I reheat the frozen portions or will they be just like when I froze the soup?

I think I would freeze my noodles separately then add to the soup when thawed and cook a bit then.

I never freeze my soup with noodles in it. As a matter of fact I don't even store it in the fridge with the noodles in it. I take them out and store in a separate container. The noodles absorb the liquid leaving you with great big fat noodles and not enough broth!

It only takes a few minute for the noodles to cook I would add them when I heat up the soup.

Oops! I think Edouard was keeping me sort of glued to the TV, (I'm in Houston and love the rain it brought=o), so, I had a few mispelled words. But... ha-ha... since no one mentioned it, guess you all knew what I meant. On the noodles instruction paragraph... It was supposed to be: run through 'Cold' water, and not 'Gold' water. Surprisingly, no one had asked me to send him/her a jug of gold water! LOL... Also, please "ChoPped" the green onion and not 'choOped'... LOL, is that even an English word?!? Jessyf, I often don't have sliced beef neither and the ground beef in the stock is normally enough meat for me. Medium rare to rare sliced beef is the main meat in Pho. However, many people prefer it thoroughly cooked. If you do, dip the sliced beef into the hot steamy stock to cook it to your preference and arrange it on top of the noodles. Then, when you're ready to serve, pour the stock into the bowl. Jim, as for the hot sauce, there's no such thing as the "right" hot sauce. It is more of a preference. I have an Italian taste tongue, so my choice of "hot" is black pepper for Pho! And, of course, you can chose to have a combination of black pepper, hot sauce and jalapenos with Pho. That is, if you don't turn into a dragon afterward. As Jessyf mentioned, yes, Sriracha is normally used in the restaurant for Pho. You're right about having other type of meat in Pho. But, they're mainly of or derived from beef/cow parts. Fish ball is not one of the type of meat in Pho, beef meat ball is. That is why many times, we call it Pho B(B2=beef/cow) to differentiate from a similar noodle soup, Pho GÃ (gÃ =chicken). Chicken Pho is made slightly different.

Thanks Carol and Woodie... No it wasn't me that tossed the stock down the drain Carol, but I know I've nearly done it several times...LOL and someone else did do it as I remember. It would be so easy to do wouldn't it, when we're so accustomed to draining something in the sink. Woodie I'm sure Ken's chicken soup is first rate ! I used to make thick lentil or chickpea soups more often than chicken soup, but I now love the flavour after the bones, garlic and onion have been roasted first. I often sautÃ© the vegetables first in garlicky oil when making a lentil or chickpea soup as well, as it adds to the rich, toasty flavour. Mmm I look forward to soup weather. It's still pretty warm here but nights are turning a bit cooler. SharonCb

oops! sorry. hit a wrong button. I wanted to comment on Campbell's soup. I totally agree about the taste. Dish water is a good discription of the chicken noodle now. and the Tomato, one of my favs, is so bland as well. I remember my mother making soup for us 6 kids and the condensed soup was really what you would call condensed. one regular can of tomato came out of the can in a almost can shaped mass and the directions said to add 3 cans of water! you had to really stir it like mad to get that condensed soup to mix smoothly with the water to create the creamy soup, it was that thicke! and it tasted great! Soup was an economical way to feed a family then. not so much now! Now you only mix in 1 can of water and the "condensed" soup just runs out of the can. really there is no sense adding any water because what you get now is red water, no longer the thick and creamy packed with tomato flavor. bland and watery. same for the chicken noodle. they just keep cheapening the product, like people wont notice. I get the whole "let's get rid of all the artificial crap and high sodium and make this healthier because that's what people want. but if you can't do that and still produce a product that tastes good and people want to buy it, you might as well realize your product is done. people are buying now on nostalgia only and eventually Campell's Soup will be no more.

The last time I froze some chciken soup with noodles....I put the noodles in fraw....and they still were mush when I reheated it.
Freeze teh soup without the noodles.

Thank you, you all have confirmed what I thought would happen. So make the soup and add the noodles later!

Yet one more option... I make meaty soup "concentrate" for the freezer. Concentrated broth made with basic veggies that get removed or pureed into the broth, plus all the bits of meat. The concentrate is cooked down to a low amount of liquid in it.

When I want soup, I'll use the broth concentrate (packaged in 1-cup amounts in the freezer), add water (similar to adding that can of water to Campbell's soup) and ingredients I have on hand to quickly make small batches of soup. Because I only have the freezer on my refrigerator with limited space, this method also takes up a lot less space than making a big batch of soup.

That meaty turkey concentrate can then be made into soup with noodles, rice, barley, wild rice, or all kinds of other things added to it. The soup concentrate can also be used for sauces and casseroles.

I cook the noodles separtely when I heat the Soup from the freezer.
Put a little College Inn in the Noodle water ( I use Chicken Soup Base )

If there are too many noodles,
I'll put them in a container for my next bowl 2 days later.
Or add Spaghetti sauce, to them.

Not only do I not like to freeze noodles in soup, but I also dislike freezing potatoes in soup. They just seem to get strange.

Cynic...I agree on the noodles and potatoes...but strangely, I don't mind cooked rice frozen in my soup.
But if I have gone to the trouble to make a lovely home made broth....I really prefer that the noodles for the soup are not cooked in a chicken flavored powdered broth.
I cook them in the same broth as the soup.

Every year, the day after Thanksgiving. I make Williamburg soup. Everything goes in that is left over including some gravy & even dressing. I add 'no yolks' egg noodles. It's in the freezer right now. I have never had any problems with the noodles. Think about all the frozen dinners,chinese & others that have noodles in them. Never a problem with those either. It works for me--just sayin'.
