Design Dilemma Kitchens Remodeling

Help with Granite/backsplash options!

Hi! So we recently bought a home we love, but one problem- it has GREEN countertops. So, I’m in the market for an update! I’ve been searching for weeks for color choices and frankly my head may explode. I need guidance! My floors are light and my cabinets are white. I like white/gray look; however I prefer tan/neutral. My decor in the dinning room beside of the kitchen is tan/black/brown. I’ve included the pics of my kitchen and some dream kitchen I would like to imitate but I do not know the granite colors. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!

A few questions, do you plan on doing any other updates to the kitchen? Such as upgraded flooring and appliances?

If you just moved in I suggest you wait a bit before investing in new countertops. You may discover there are layout changes you want to make which is harder to do after putting in new countertops. The kitchen is a little suck in the 90s and adding a new countertop may only highlight that rather than update it.

The floors look pretty rough as well. Take a door to the stone yard & see what looks good with your cabinets. I hope that border is coming down as well. Don't get overwhelmed. You have a good starting point here & can really make a different with a little facelift. Take it one thing at a time...

I like the look of taking the tile all the way to the ceiling. I like the idea of the scones, but not sure you will have room above the windows. Recessed cans in the ceiling may be the most functional. Looking at your plan, is that the only sink, or a prep sink? The cabinet is not going to allow for a standard size kitchen sink if it's the only one.

OH BOY. I'm sorry I know you must be unraveled, but realistically it looks more like the counters dont go with your kitchen as they are brown tones and everything else looks black white and gray. Why did you leave the granite backsplash up? that would help minimize it a bit I think.. We need to see the whole room.

I would not rush to make any changes. Live in the house for a year and then decide what you want to do. If you then decide that you want to update the whole kitchen, you would have wasted money changing out the counters too soon.

I would paint to get rid of the coral wall color and border.

Hi Sina! Well, we are going up on a year and I can no longer handle the green! Lol. We are getting stainless steal appliances and I repainted the house to SW Gray.

We will not be doing any Demo as far as rearranging cabinets or anything so just strictly cosmetic. The floors are staying for now, but I hope they are next to be updated.
