wedding gift. DH's grandmother made for all her grandchildren in anticipation of their marriages. I never met her.

My oldest daughter has spend years in Korea, teaching English to children. She send me an outline of the hands of one of her students, and requested I make him some gloves. here they are:

I wouldn't know one end of a crochet hook or a knitting needle from the other, so I greatly admire the work of those who do. All of you have shared beautiful items with us today. Hubby still uses the crochet throw his grandmother made for him when he was a little boy and it still looks like new.

Nicole, your upholstery work is perfect. You give new life to wonderful furniture that just needs some TLC to be useful and appreciated when it might otherwise end up relegated to storage, or worse, a landfill.

I enjoyed knitting toys for a while. I made the quilt too.

I don't have any needlework skills either but luckily I have some friends who do. I love getting something they have made. I have a few hats that have been crocheted and I even got 2 pair of slippers that I loved so much but they do wear out too soon from everyday wearing.

One of the pieces I treasure is this doily that my friend made when Fred (miniature schnauzer) passed away. She asked me what color I wanted and I told her either purple or green, the colors of his collar. Well she found wool that was both!! I just love it. His ashes came back in such a beautiful little box.

It was either Sheila or Donna who shared how to make this baby blanket. Just take two pieces of flannel, crochet around the edges. Fun to do and very easy.

Me, I make jewelry. Its not particularly useful, but i love the process from start to finish.

I made this for a woman who lives in England. She was preparing to hike the Camino del Santiago in Spain and a friend of hers commissioned this piece to bring good luck and to represent all of her hard work and planning to get ready for her hike. Both the scallop shell and the feathers on the other side/back of the pendant are symbols of the Camino del Santiago, the scallop shell in particular as it is used to guide pilgrims on their journey to Santiago de Compostela.

Here's an update on the vault door project. I'm waiting for double pinstriping to arrive from China. Since I textured the surface, I felt hand stenciling would be "iffy".

DH hand carved a cherry handle for it from a piece of left over flooring.

****And...those plaid chairs were a learning experience when I was self teaching myself upholstery. They were donated to a charity. They might be in a landfill....?

I don't knit or crochet either, but I do old-fashioned rug hooking. Here's a nautilus chair seat I finished last night. I bound the edge with yarn--a first for me. And I did that as soon as I finished hooking the day before--also a first for me. I have a history of procrastinating about binding the edges.

Murraysmom, I have that same box. Three of them, for Angel, Wolfy, and Mickey. You've inspired me to think about hooking something for underneath.

I don't do much anymore. I used to do quite a bit of jewelry. Years ago I did pottery, loved throwing pots on the wheel. I owned a custom design and sewing company for years, so I did a lot of sewing. Unfortunately all of my examples of my various work were lost.

Cannot get a good picture, but my grandmother crocheted a lot. I taped a picture of me with her, when I was a youngster, on the back.

So many talented KTers we have here. I have really enjoyed seeing what you all do.

Gee, you all make me feel ashamed that I have not put out the effort to master at least some kind of useful talent. Such lovely things you all have shown.

Many years ago I did do some decoupage. This is the only piece I have now. Gave it all away.

And I did a lot of sewing, making a lot of my kids clothes and some for myself, including down vests and coats from Frostline Kits. It was amazing how far and wide I would find down feathers floating around the house for weeks after finishing a down project.

Below is a pin cushion that I love. A niece makes them to sell at craft shows. Since I no longer sew, I use the one she gave me in a different way.

Glenda, are those crocheted pansies around the edge of that doily? My mother used to crochet doilies very similar to that, pansies were her favorite flower.

Gaz, I made a Frostline vest for my husband--back in the 1970's, I think. It turned out beautifully, but I was not in a hurry to work with down any time soon. I remember it floating all over the house too! Cute pincushion (and bugs)!

Alisande, I did at least 1 1/2 dozen down vests and 4 coats, and also some down slippers. Also did 2 many pocketed Frostline lined jackets (no down) for my 2 daughters. That would have been in the early 1970's. Daughter Marie, still has hers and wears it to walk the dogs, and biking in cool weather.

In high school, I made down vests from pillows my mom was throwing out. It was before Craigslist. We had a Thrifty Nickel newspaper I sold them in. I'd made ONE down jacket from a kit, prior to this. Then a guy from my moms church started buying kits & paying me to assemble them for him. Down booties. A back pack for his dog. I covered his down army sleeping bag, it was rotting cotton fabric.

That brings back memories. :0)

rusty, those are pansies! Grandmother and my mother used to dip those pieces in heavy starch, so they would stand up and put a vase in the middle. Anyone remember doing that in days long ago?

Don't knit or crochet, though I wish I could. I do sew sometimes. I've been cutting out, and sewing purses with leftover fabric. Upcycling the best way I know how

Thanks, socks. She is a very thoughtful friend. Here is another piece she made for me from that same wool. I wish I had her talent! There are so many lovely things made and such interesting stories to go with them.

Ravencajun, I am so sorry you suffered such a loss of so many things that mean something to you.

I love doilies and have quite a few. I like that they were made by ladies long ago. I have one given to me by another friend when she visited Spain. She knew I love doilies and she saw a lady sitting in a square, making them so she got one for me.

This is a wedding dress that I made for my ex-sister-in-law. It seems that I got along better with her than my brother did. I made the veil so that she could wear part of it over her face in the beginning, but then I added some artificial flowers to the hat part (I thought it needed more height), and then she could not pull part of the veil over, although I did make it in two tiers. The jacket and bottom overskirt are silk organza, which had to be ironed at the church just before she put on the dress, and so I had to iron it at the church because the maid of honor (her sister) did not know how to iron. SIL came up with the idea for the design, and I just made what she wanted, although the bolero jacket was my idea.

Fabulous job, Lars--do you do this for a living? It's unfortunate the marriage didn't last.

I have shown this before. These are the rugs I make out of old sheets. It is 43 inches by 24 inches. There is a 164 rows on it. I make them on a flat picture frame loom. I have sold some of them. I just figured out how to post a picture. Not sure if I could do it again.

Volunteers make hand-made blankets which are then given to children in critical care or the ER or removed from domestic violence situations, etc.

A little late but here is a crochet blanket made by my aunt for me. And one of my larger, more complex cross-stitch pieces I did a long time ago. When I could see a lot better!

That's awesome, Moni. Those were probably the first pair of gloves he's worn that fit his hands comfortably.

Alisande, I used to design and make clothes for a living, when I lived in San Francisco. But my business partners (two other designers) decided to move the business to New York, since that's where most of our sales were, and at that time I decided to go back to university and got a degree in design, so that I could do interior design instead. However, I got a job in a furniture company when I moved to Los Angeles, and I've been designing furniture ever since, instead of clothes, but I still do make clothes from time to time. I did not like the fashion design industry - too many catty people, especially the models - it became tiring to me to deal with them.
