Deciding on a window treatment
Comments (4)Actually, I'm still considering silk. I saw the drapes at JC Penny's and you're right Gracie, they do have an excellent selection. That's where I saw the silk (interlined)drapes. However, they were custom and way too expensive for me. But with the sale they have going, it may be affordable. Has anyone purchased these, and how have they held up. More likely these will be up for a few years. I don't change curtains with the seasons, like my mother used to do! :)...See MoreCannot decide on window treatments.
Comments (2)Three separate rods (of course) installed close to the ceiling. Textured wood blinds installed right below the rod to bridge the gap between the top mouldings and the rod to create a consistent line. I'd make these darker to relate to your floor. One curtain panel on each window flanking the fireplace; draw them open away from the fireplace, obviously. Make sure the slider rod is at least about 12" beyond each side of the door so the panels can stack back out of the way. This is the basic gist of what I prefer with most window treatments....See MoreHelp with large window treatments (draperies OR curtains etc.)?
Comments (12)ninegret - that is a good idea w/ the 3 shades. I can ask a store but I'm curious how they would attach since we don't have 3 separate windows, it's one long window. The other issue is the middle window is about 10inches longer than the two outside so would you order one long shade or 3 separate and hang them from the top? I also agree french doors would be nice but we don't want to spend thousands to demo and close off that area and create french doors when there is a door to the 'game room' a couple feet to the left of the couch. It's a very large living room that is completely open to our kitchen and dining room on the other 2 sides and a fire place on the 3rd side so there are no other windows/coverings. It's an odd look that is difficult to figure out how to decorate so I appreciate the suggestions and any further comments. The previous owners had a good thought to enclose the back deck and make it a game room but it's created a little confusion on how to decorate the existing 'former' exterior window....See MoreWindow treatment above window seat---blinds vs. curtains
Comments (12)Thanks so much for the feedback! This is super helpful. Does anyone know if there's a place where you can buy Roman shades without going through a custom window covering company? Or do they need to be custom made because of window size?...See MoreBernadette Aquil
