I want to move, but I don't want to leave my kitchen.
Comments (35)Caligal, it really sounds like you want to stay with your current home. However, I'll just point out that right now the inventory of foreclosed homes gives people unprecedented chances to obtain homes they could not hope to have before and many will not be able to afford in future (let's hope no more such "wonderful" home markets). I don't mean go looking just for a bigger home (although in your case some additional size would be nice), but rather a lifestyle improvement: A decent home in a location that is particularly desirable to you. You know, location, location, location. Things like good schools, a pretty sociable neighborhood, close to family, en route between friends and mall (they'll be dropping in), favorite amenities close by (cows in pastures or high-density shopping, your choice), good proximity and transportion to work. Whatever floats your boat. If you're not already in a place you'd really like to raise your children and even be happy growing old, this current opportunity to make your home there should not be passed up for any but the most important reasons....See MoreRomans are on the patio doors... don't think I like them...
Comments (33)Oakley - I get what you're saying. I guess my house doesn't scream tons of color. I do have some candles and other accessories that aren't in these pics but overall my house is more muted I suppose. Funky - Good point about Reno's being more grounded. Those were the words I couldn't find. You're probably right but the thought of dark doors still hasn't left me . . going to wait, going to wait! Natal - Yeah, I've been searching and debating about a rug. Rectangular ones the correct size for under the table seem almost too large for the floor space (ends up too close to the wall with no pic). I may have to go with a round rug. Leah - *Smacking self on forhead* I know what cleats are. :) I'm a little sleep deprived as of late and it's showing. Thanks for mentioning to go to her blog. It was nice looking at all the window treatment pics. Nanny - I'll try some fruit or something on the table. I do have a glass pedestal on the island that we use for real fruit so the fruit may be too much for the table also?...See MoreDon't want a transom or barn doors just Painted MDF - HELP
Comments (3)I have a very similar archway leading into my library and have considered adding doors. I also don't want barn doors, but arched doors that perfectly fit the space would have to be custom made and are thus cost prohibitive for now. Another option is to have the arch reframed so that stock (rectangular) double doors can be installed. Either way you go, there will be the need for professional work to be done, unless you are well versed in carpentry....See MoreHelp! I don’t want vertical blinds for sliding glass doors.
Comments (8)Thank you @Patricia Colwell that is what I needed. And I posted a pic of the space not sure if you are referring to entire space. This was the only pic I could get from someone elseks home, so please bear with me. My home is still to be built this year. Here is a clear one without the measurements. The patio doors are in the great room, the kitchen is to the right and the other area with windows is the kitchen nook. All 12 ft ceiling, so I need something fairly coordinated, but the nook will have blinds/drapes. I just do not want verticals for the patio doors. I am really not crazy about sheers either but would consider. I suppose if I do sheers they will need to be at the same height the side drapes will be. Not sure I can do anything that would sit at the top of the patio doors, unless they are solar shades but I don’t know if those would look good, either....See Morechiflipper
