Penny's are in deep trouble and a lot of the stores have downsized merchandise

dramatically. But, that said, I still get e-mails every week or so advertising sale

products. Makes me sad too...I also remember Penny's as the go-to store for

home furnishings, etc, kids' clothes, etc. In this town, Kohl's seems to have taken

over that role. Of course, nothing made in the USA anymore, anyway I guess.

I think the cost of printing and delivering flyers is the reson you are not seeing as many. I always find coupons and sale prices on the JC Penny website. I agree the selection of curtains and drapes used to be great.

I used to always go to Penney's for my work clothes (when my job called for business dress) but that was quite some time ago; I haven't had a need to shop there for a long time. Nearly all the stores that used to have sale inserts in the Sunday paper no longer do -- only Target, Menard's, Michaels, CVS and Ulta do regularly now. Macy's and Kohl's rarely. Penney's topped sometime in the past 18 months to 2 years ago, I think.

Penney's has been struggling for several years now though, ever since the failed experiment with "no more sales".

I love their shoe sales, but I'm afraid Penney's is going to go the way of Sears, Kmart and many other retailers. Times have changed and a lot of companies haven't kept up.

Look on line. Everything would be listed on their site as far as sales go.

JCP has sent me several sales fliers. I've been buying leggings. Nothing out of the usual going on locally.

It makes me sad to see JCP in the state it’s in. It was always my Mother’s favorite go to store as well as mine once I was on my own. Their website is a mess and the last few times I went into the store, it was clear that there are problems.

Definitely check out their website. They have huge sales all the time online.

I've taken advantage of some very good prices (discounts) Penney's online lately....just took some things to my mother for her to try on yesterday. And DH insists on their underwear and hankies.

Online because our store closed a couple of years ago. Closest is almost 60 miles away. I used to buy clothing for my nieces little girls there so I could mail to NC - they always had cute things, well made, for them.

And I agree on those window covering sales. Blinds and roman shades were often deeply discounted and not just the Penney's brand. I ordered blinds for the garden window in our master a few months ago from a local furniture store. And won't do that again, I paid twice what it would have cost at Penney's or Lowe's.

I 've always loved Penney's . I could always find tall pants that fit me well and long enough !

I always liked Penney's Womens size casual clothing. However, they are in serious financial difficulties and I do not expect them to survive. Vendors are complaining they are not being paid in timely fashion.

My prediction? I expect all JCP stores will shut down by 2021 year end.

After that the crystal ball gets fuzzy but I expect Macy's will race Barnes & Noble Bookstores to the bottom. I haven't looked at Macy's long-term debt situation but B&N has been making all the wrong moves for several years now.

It's sad.....but this is what happens when you misread cultural shifts in retail purchasing.

I use to go to Sears, Penney's and kmart - especially pre school yr starting.

and I always found the best purses at Sears. loved the Sears/Penney's catalogs. I do miss those! there are none of those close to me now, I'd have to drive up to the nearest Mall and that's a long way from me.

I was in Penney's today but didn't find anything to buy. I did order boots from their website last week. I sure hope our store doesn't close as all we would have left is Gliks, Maurices, and Peebles. I do find things I like at those three but I would really miss the Penney store. There are two ladies shops downtown but their prices are high I think.

I’m sure Penney’s has sales, but isn’t sending out newspaper inserts, too pricey.

Our Kmart, yes, we still have one, doesn’t have a weekly ad anymore either.
