help me choose between these slabs.

I like both these slabs for different reasons. I love the pure white of the snow white, but don’t like how busy it is. I like all the sparkly parts it has, and I love the transparent quartz looking parts of both. I don’t love the garnet specks in the Snow White. In the vintage I love the uniformity of flow and the cleaner look. I’m afraid it may come across looking like cow hide with the black splotches, but those spots are beautiful, with rainbow crystals embedded in transparent spots deeper in the stone. It is less overall white, more creamy.

Comments (23)Update: My designer and I went to view 4 & 5. While she agreed the patterning on 5 was interesting, she thought the tonal variations of the shades of white in 4 was better. 4 was also DH's favorite. There are 15 contiguous numbered slabs of #4, so DH and I made an appt. with the stone yard to go pull out more slabs over lunch tomorrow. Although I expect the slabs to be similar, there may be some variations that make some slabs more pleasing to us than others. I am hoping the yellowish area on the far right of the top slab does not appear on all the slabs in that lot. Maybe some of the lower slabs have a little more variation in the lines too. Kiffgirl, I looked at Marmol too. They have some nice cross cut WM now, which I considered before deciding on the vein cut. BKW, we do not have any 90 degree turns to deal with. The 2 perimeter runs will be separated by a French door to the side yard. (No seams required - yay!) Comments (29)It's a polished finish. It looks really cool when the vinegar goes on. It starts as the large drop and then it seeps (almost seems like underneath the puddle somewhere) to the tiny cracks and bubbles in them ever so slightly, like the heart beat I described. I wish I could take a video. The larger puddle bubbles slightly, but if you look at it from the side, you can see the line of bubbles along the fracture in the puddle. I left a puddle of vinegar for a couple hours, and I still don't quite see the etching. I really need to look in certain lighting or touch it too see/feel the dull spots. I brought it back to the kitchen and opened the blinds to let light in. I don't have regular light fixtures in yet, only these hanging bulbs. Anyway, I had to take a torchiere lamp and hold it over the sample to find the etch marks. I wish I had more samples to destroy! I did not end up crushing any. I can still try that. I figured I saw the bubbles already, so what's the point. I don't care for the darker areas of the stone, but I think it will look nice as a counter. It has a lot of interest to it. Of course, I didn't get the feeling I did w/my first slab though. Honestly, even if I saw a slab just like my 1st, I probably wouldn't get that feeling again anyway. I'm so bad with making decisions; it's one of my main sources of anxiety. I usually end up doing nothing/buying nothing rather than having to make a decision! Comments (3)Do not paint the garage in the trim color. That turns it into a feature and it's not something you want featured. Paint it the house color so it fades back. What is the trim you are painting the brown?...See More

5 years agoI went to 3 yards. These and one that was too brown were the only ones in my budget I loved. If I could double the budget I’d get super white hands down. Here is the one that was too brown...
