Does rain water make any difference?
Comments (10)Hi Sam! For my plants, ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD... That is an understatement. My water carries salt despots, fluoride, chlorine, and the pH is very high. In my case, if I use faucet water on my plants, the pH is too high, and the deposits from my water can stunt growth along with cause brown tip on many sensitive trees and plants. My gardenias, ferns, palms, peace lilies, and philodendrons in particular react poorly over time with faucet water. That is why I will use distilled water if I can, or use rain water and fill 30 gallons buckets to hold me through the winter. I had just enough rain water left over the long winter by sacrificing some of my not so important plants to faucet water, and this is the result. Notice the tips on the first two pictures of what other wise is a very green plant until I stop using rain water. This is growth over the winter with faucet water. Even worst if you use a bagged mix. Incredible difference with rain water as the new growth and growth since I switched to rain water is now coming and staying green to the very tips. Comments (12)No, I do not think so unless there is a problem in the delivery. The other area might be if you are not happy with the appliance but it is not defective or it is defective and the defect is such that you would not want another one from the same company. Some places will take it back for a limited time, many will not. I would ask about that ahead of time and you may find you get different answers, although whether any place will honor what they tell you is a different matter. If your product just needs to be serviced within the regular warranty period, as long as the dealer was authorized to sell the product, it does not matter because the manufacturer services it, not the dealer. The warranties are expensive at Sears. I hate Sears because the price match thing is a hassle and the one time I tried it, they did not have the item in stock (neither did Lowes who had the best price). Since it was a fridge and I was desperate I ended up negotiating something with a local appliance store. We have bought from the local appliance place before and after but a couple of years ago they really tried to rook my DH on a big screen TV. He ordered a Sony from them that was about 200 cheaper (on 2000) at Amazon and every place else. We ended up canceling the order and I am no longer interested in buying from the small place. I am not using my hard earned money to subsidize the owner's new Infiniti (yes he does own one, I know him personally) Lowes often has the cheapest in our area but their price tends to fluctuate. I check online first. I bought a freezer a year ago from Lowes, my local small store would have charged over 100 more plus delivery. At Lowes it was free. The price did vary by about 50 from week to week and I made sure to get the low end. I have also used a web based Appliance Buy Phone Service. I had no problems, it was 100 cheaper than any place else. It was delivered by PC Richards which is a local appliance chain but was not sold by them...See MoreDouble Glazed Windows... Comments (25)I have never figured out why some people think replacing windows must be some type of "investment" to have any value. What other home improvements are held to this standard? What is the ROI on a new deck, kitchen couter tops,a new roof, new doors etc. What is the pay back for making these changes? What you should be thinking about is what happens if you DON'T replace your windows. Let's take a very conservative LOSS of savings analysis. Let's say you LOSE $250. per year over the next 20 years becasue you decided to leave your old windows. Let's further assume that utiity rates ONLY increase 3% per year over that time period. You would have spent $7164. more in utilities than if you had replaced your windows. And what do you have in 20 years? The same old window you had 20 years before that you have spent an additional $2000 for a few paint jobs, probably haven't cleaned and have had to live with the discomfort of air leaking in the winter. Then you decide to sell your house but the Real Estate person tell you that you will need to replace the windows if you have any hope of selling. So you go out at that point and discover that it's going to cost $20,000 to replace your windows. So total spent over 20 years is nearly $30,000 and all you ended up doing is buying new windows for the new owners of your house and got no benefit at all. Does that sound like the best approach to "investing" money? If you are looking for an investment, see a financial planner or a banker. If you have old windows that need to be replaced, see a window specialist. Don't confuse window replacement with something you want to make money on. Buy them for the same reasons you make other improvements to your home....See MoreWhere to buy older iPad ?
Comments (5)To me, the advantage of buying refurbished, besides the lower price, is that the device gets a full checkup and a new battery. I've bought refurbished twice and it came packaged like new. No wear or defects of any kind ..impossible to tell it was a refurb....See More1929Spanish-GW
