Growing Grass - not even sure where to start!
Comments (0)I have a small area (about 20 ft by 8 foot) patch in the front of my driveway that I want to fix. The builder planted grass 8 yrs ago Not sure what he did (how much topsoil he put, what type of grass he put, etc) butall I have is hard hard lawn, lots of rocks, and weeds, with grass here and there. I used tool today to rake/scrape all the dead matter away and filled like 3 garbage bags with leaves, stones, dead stuff, etc. I also softened the area since it was rock hard. It is 'low' and I want to build it up a tinge before p lanting. can I just dump 2-4 inches of topsoil on this area, and plant seeds in that? Do I HAVE to kill t he weeds first? I really want the grass quiclkly. I'm in NY. Would this work? I'd love some suggestions. Thank you....See MorePlease help, not sure where to start
Comments (4)If you browse through the photos on Houzz, you will begin to notice a pattern in the things you like best. Add the ones you like to your Ideabook so that the pattern becomes more obvious. Comments (12)Well if you have your own mix then definitely repot. I always process my new plants via repotting, also allows you to check the roots and for bugs, so it gives you a clear picture of how the plant is. The Gollum can be propagated via leaves, so you might give that a shot. However I'm worried if it's healthy, just make sure there's no root Rot or stem Rot. If there is, then you gotta deal with those carefully. I'm worried because it looks like that other plant was died from Rot? Can't see well to say for sure. I may be wrong. But it has also dropped a lot of plump leaves, which is not a good sign. If you need help judging it, post pics of the root. Might take a while to get a reply but I'm sure you will within a day. Don't worry if you have to leave the plant unlocked. It'll be fine sitting bare rooted for a day or two as long as it's not scorched by the sun....See MoreLiving Room Help... Not sure where to start
Comments (9)I would remove the valances, declutter the mantel under the TV, get a more modern (and much longer) coffee table, a larger rug in warmer colors, a more streamlined couch in an interesting color (no gray, black or brown please, and should be fabric), remove the bookcase and put in one that is lower than the mantel and is filled with only books, painted white, and buy some beautiful art for the walls. One vertical painting could go above the bookcase to mimic the window on the other side. The TV really should be placed lower down. What is that odd silver square in the upper right hand corner of the TV? Can you remove it or at least paint it black? I see you have only one (rather unattractive) lamp and none on the sofa side. How do you read at night? You may have ceiling lamps but they give horrible illumination. Your room has nice bones and having windows on two sides is always wonderful...See MoreLauren Davis
