re: the sitting on the front porch. I'm a porch sitter, my family, friends and neighbors in our small town were all porch sitters. I have a back porch that I spend quite a bit of time on in the summer when not sitting in the garden. Private there.

However, I've tried sitting on my front porch. It's small but can accommodate a chair, nice views of the farms across the way, but close to the road. Anyway, you wouldn't believe the looks, laughs, and comments tossed my way from passing vehicles when I sit there! I'm at a loss as to why. Neighbors smile and wave, that's great. But strangers? It's like they've never seen such a sight. I could lose a little weight I know, but sheesh. Sometimes I sense hostility. I never see any other neighbors on their front porches either. Does it convey that I'm lazy, are the people jealous of my leisure time? Am I just too sensitive. lol

Schoolhouse....sounds to me the problem is theirs. I can't think of anything cozier than having the time to sit on a front porch. I'm guessing the laughing ones are

just so tickled to see someone have the time (and front porch) to sit out there. And,

probably wishing they could too. I'd just smile and wave at them.

Kitty, are you a follower of Farmer Tim??? I am, and he lives not far from me.

We had a cat adopt us years ago and my DH is allergic to cats. We had the "who stays" conversation jokingly, or so he thought. My DH spent 2 years going through allergy shots just so we or should I say "I", could keep the cat.

I knew my DH was a keeper at that time and the cat lived to be 20 years old and followed my DH everywhere. Best cat ever.

I was going to ask you, Kitty, whether you're in Canada, as the ice cream kntajner loks like "Chapmans Premium", the earlier, plastic model.

Or maybe it was the guy who made the pic.

I didn't wriwrite some of that first sentence ... but sometimes the advisor over my shoulder seems to know better.

Jasdip just a picture I shared from Facebook. I hadn't even noticed Farmer Tim on it. joyfulguy I don't live in Canada but very close to it.

Farmer Tim has a blog all about farming and he has a huge following. I saw that pic as well in my newsfeed and that's why I was curious, Kitty.

More to the "Chapman's Premium" ice cream story referred to above.

Many food processors have been shrinking their packages, e. g. yogurt, meat, ice cream, cookies in recent years but the Chapman's makers have resIsted, keeping to the 2 litre size when others shrank to 1.66, 1.5, etc.

When writing to them I've thanked them for that, saying that sometimes when unit prices of others on sale have been lower, I stay loyally with "Chapman's".

Where I have yet to possibly have an effect is that I should write to the others to tell them of my dislike of their shrinking their package sizes so much that I refuse to buy their stuff even when it's cheaper per litre/gram!
