Bathrooms Flooring Design Dilemma

Is granite ok with these busy tiles?

Renovating 2 small bathrooms. I fell in love with these tiles and will be using the mosaic pattern (there is a different mosaic for the 2nd BR/ same colors) for the floors and the marble look porcelain for the walls. Quartz is too expensive but I found this granite which is so beautiful and less than half the price. Obviously it's busier using the granite. The 2 countertops are 31x19 and 42x21. Does anyone think that this would look good together? In the picture are the 2 square samples of the cabinet finishes. Thanks for your input...

If YOU used the word, "busier" what do you imagine we will say ? : ) I can't think of a granite anything I would like with a porcelain faux "marble" anywhere. Unless it was honed absolute black.

A solid quartz remnant at these vanity sizes should not be hard to find, or expensive. "Less than half the price" won't matter, when the bath is done, the labor in..............and the result not good.

Hi Ekazn Your kitchen sounds beautiful, can't wait to see what you are working with. What other colors and elements do you have in your kitchen? Lighting fixtures? Trim? Are you a geniune modern or more of a contemporary? Modern for me is a style from the 20th century with German scandinavian influences. Is this what you mean by modern? If you are not thinking form follows funtion and more of a contemporary sophisticated chic look that I can try to find some images of what you are looking for. Meanwhile, here are few ideas that come to mind with what you describe you are looing for. Thanks, everyone, for your responses. Wisrose, I don't have any experience with solid-color quartz, but a visit to a fabricator with a sample of your backsplash would probably answer the question. Meg711 and debi_2006: Both of you said it "doesn't bother me." That's what I figured. DH is still dubious, but I should remind him about when we had our sunroom painted Federal blue while we were out working. When we came home, all we could say was "it's so BLUE!!!!", and we kept revisiting the room like one would worry a sore tooth. Now the color just seems perfectly normal, and I suspect that reflections in our granite will just become "normal", too.

ToxDocAR - that's not your kitchen above, right? (At first I thought it was). Make a sample board of the new tile, which btw I don't read as dark at all. It's very easy! Take a scrap piece of wood (or even heavy cardboard). With double-sided sticky tape, apply your tiles. Then, mix and apply grout. Sponge clean, let dry a couple of days. Take pictures in place. Then, chip tiles off (I tap gently with a hammer and flat screwdriver) and repeat, with a different grout. You'll know, then, whether you like it or not. Or, if tiles are inexpensive enough, make multiple sample boards so you can compare in place. You can definitely reuse the tile.

Your cabinets are similar in color as mine. If you're looking for a product to flow with the colors look into New Venetian Gold or Santa Cecilia granite (both are very similar in color, movement of the stone is different). Up close the granite will seem busy but when you step back it will all flow nicely.

Get a plain quartz in a color from the wall tile. BTW that wall tile will get pretty busy looking all by itself.With that floor I would do a simple large format white subway tile and a black counter and have some fun with a black ans white color scheme

The dark color in the tile is actually grey. I’m not really crazy about black and white even though I do like a bold look. But thanks... good feedback!
