Newly Installed Wood Floor Upstairs is slanted
Comments (3)Thanks for the reply. No discussion was made with the installer on leveling the upstairs because I never noticed it on the previous floor that was there, perhaps because all the baseboard was up and all the floor trim. Right now there is no baseboard or floor trim so maybe it's more noticeable. So i only saw it after it was installed. I did notice that the previous floor that was there and a vinly bottom, perhaps that was the mositure barrier (although one wouldn't be needed for upstairs). Not sure if that would've previously helped to 'level out' the floor or not. The installer now didn't use vinyl. Also, the Lauzon floor that was just installed is slightly thinner than the previous floor so when we go to put up the baseboard, there's going to be a 1/8 inch line where the previous baseboard was, i tore out all the caulking that was stuck on the wall where the top of the baseboard was caulked to the wall and it leaves an indented line across the wall. Wondering what the best way to fill that is. I used dry wall paste and then touched it up with some paint, but it still looks noticeable......See MoreMaster Bedroom Paint Help: Slanted Walls, East and West Facing Windows
Comments (11)Calidesign: good point about warmth from wood floors and bedding. Thank you. ljangell44: I actually tried to pick up a paint chip for agreeable gray (for another room) at SW when I was there, they were all out...popular color!! On my to do list to get back there. Interesting, I had never considered gray for the room, but I think it may compliment the yellow and not close in the room...will check it out. Thanks! BlueberryBundtcake: Tired of it and want a change. Funny, I always loved the warmth of it, but now after some renovations over the years all of the stain on various doors and windows do not match and it bugs me. Understood that it will be difficult to change!...See MoreBuilder installed wrong Window casing. Help
Comments (29)ILoveRed - Why did you hate it? I am not happy about MDF, but we are having to use some with our new build because of supply and demand, plus skyrocketing cost on the real thing. Our builder (custom build) says MDF is fine for crown, casings and moldings, but did he does not like using it on baseboards. He did say that because we are retired, and don't have children living at home, that MDF will hold up well. He says that if we had children, he would not recommend. Well, we have two grandchildren!!! All of the trim was delivered to the house last week and sitting in the garage. The MDF was on back order, as well. I need to check to see if our baseboard trim is MDF or wood. We are using the same type design and sizes of trim that we used in our previous home. I tell you, I could not tell the difference except that it was a little more flexible....See Morewindow waterproofing and install help
Comments (5)Conflex is a liquid "waterproofing" coating for concrete block and should have little to do with window installation. Will the windows be attached to the face of the block or will they be recessed in the openings? Here is a detail for the installation of a Kolbe casement window recessed in a masonry opening: You should have a similar detail in the design drawing set or in the proposal Kolbe gave you. Such information should always be transmitted in writing or drawings on paper (rather than a digital link), and formally approved by the GC in writing so it becomes part of the construction contract....See MoreWindows on Washington Ltd
