Alisonn, love your room! And happy to hear that "painting everything white" wasn't the consensus here. Our new home has a lot of wood, with a cathedral wood ceiling in the great room. All I ever got when asking for suggestions on colors or decorating, was "paint it all white".....not necessarily always on this forum. I agree with aktillery and could see a muted olive green leaning toward gray tones shade in your room. Not necessarily what your husband would like. Maybe you could suggest to him to bring COLOR into the room through a bold rug etc.

thanks for the suggestions. Cotton Balls was on my list. I dont' have mascarpone on my fan deck, so I am curious to see what it looks like. I looked onthe BM website but it's so hard to tell on the monitor. I think if I have time today, I am going to check the paint store for samples.

Oh my, you have a multitude of colors available to you. Perhaps you need to decide whether you like stone with movement, with or without a reflective bling element, whether you want contrast to the floor and cabinet color, whether you want a polished or antique surface treatment, and many other basics which would help narrow down your choices. I think that your photos indicate you could use browns, whites, dark greens, perhaps some of the reds. Your cabinets are beautiful and are a warm color. The space appears to not be too large so i would recommend staying away from the blacks. Of course the amount of natural light you have and the type and quality of electric lighting will make a difference also. If your cabinet runs are short I would stay away from granite slabs that have huge color changes from one side of the slab to the other. There are many sites you can Google to see pictures of actual slabs of stone, but the real selection should be at a slab yard where you bring a cabinet door with you and hold it up to the selections that appeal to you. I'm sure something will grab your heart and you will know you've found the right stone. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

That green paint is going to need a primer before you can paint. Why not prime it, then choose your colors. The light on the adjoining walls will make your color look different as will the time of day and your furnishings. First prime/paint white, then pick your main furniture pieces and rug. Only then will you see what color gray you want. In my last house, I painted every room BM Lancaster Whitewash. It has a faint creamiest tint. It looked different in every room because the sunlight influenced it as did the historic trim colors I used.
