The red diamonds in my backsplash are glass and I really like the effect. The other tiles are a bit off-white, and I think they match the cabs, I've never noticed. lol I have orb for some of the hardwared, and ruby colored pulls and knobs on the hutch which is in the kitchen. I also have an orb faucet whith white sink. White appliances. The appliances are whiter than the cabs, but its not noticeable. As far as the granite. That's a hard one to answer. Take every single thing off the countertop and I love my granite. But that color of granite is so hard to accesorize with it's driving me crazy! However, I recently discovered pale yellow, white, and light vintage green looks wonderful on the granite. My walls are a very pale yellow. Black accessories are good too, but I want more pastels in my kitchen. It only took me three years to figure out that pastels really look best with the granite and white cabs!

A backsplash looks best if it can go all the way to the horizontal countertop, so first you need to see if the short splash can be removed. If you cannot remove it, you may want to keep the backsplash area painted except for the area behind the range. You would want a stainless or similar panel there to protect the wall from splatters. Backsplash with wood cabinets almost always looks best if it is vey simple - do not go with a small tile mosaic. If you have any plans to change out counters then wait on the backsplash. Your counters look fine in the picture, but backsplash comes after counters since replacing a counter can leave a gap with the backsplash or the backsplash can be damaged in the process. Well Mitchell, I think your kitchen and home are lovely. Your floors are really cool too! I know the mosaic is bugging you, and it probably would me too, however, it is still very pretty and will probably never be given a second thought by anyone but you and your fiancee. And like a few suggested, once you accessorize, get your hardware in, etc...it's not going to be such a focal point to you like it is now. So, if it turns out not to be such an easy fix, please don't stress about it. Your home is gorgeous!
