Need help with furniture layout to determine final room size
Comments (20)My husband and I have done what you suggested by drawing up some plans We have started with the smaller version. Thank you for your offer of help. I think we are both realizing that we can’t get everything we dream of in the space as originally planned. He does not want to put a tv in front of a window because of the wiring etc. can be seen on the outside. He has mentioned also that with this size of room, it may be difficult to sit back far enough to view a TV. In terms of dining, since we seldom have a crowd for a sit down meal, I suggested that we not put a permenant dining table in. We can rent a table as the need arises and rearrange the room. If I can move my china cabinet to this space, it will open room in my 12x12 dining room so I can get a larger table in that room. If we use swivel chairs in the addition, we can easily turn the chairs for viewing or conversations. The posted picture is the latest version of our possible furniture layout. Floor lamps would go on each side of the sofa. The door to the left of the sofa will be a door size window so no traffic will go in and out here. The coffee table will be a padded bench with a tray. This plan may still be too tight We would love to see your thoughts with the original size space or the larger version....See MoreNeed help with furniture layout for a small sunroom
Comments (38)A narrow entry door is also a limiting factor. Is the exterior door from sunroom wider? Usually exterior doors are 36” wide. So that gives a way in. Plus, some of the swivel bases can be removed which would help. I can’t be sure without careful measurements. I would prefer a cozy love seat and one swivel chair. For several reasons. First, your “line of sight” coming into this room is looking at shorter wall. That is your focal point wall. The cozy loveseat you can curl up on with a book, would be my choice. Then perhaps a “C” table near the loveseat with an arc lamp that can be positioned over reading spot. Add art on that wall. Then you could position two compact chairs for added seating across from that piece. Small drink tables and that’s it. Might add cute small ottoman that could act as small table with a small tray when needed. Just depends on how you realistically will use this room....See MoreNeed help with pantry layout and design please
Comments (5)No pets. We do plan to store food but we don’t have much to store since we don’t buy canned goods or boxed food much , so mostly cooking/baking ingredients and kids snacks. I’d like the space mainly to store small kitchen appliances like our blender, air fryer and a coffee station. Here’s a picture of our current kitchen, pantry entrance is to the left of the microwave. We plan to take this one out to install a hood vent with our full kitchen reno next year. I don’t want the color/design style of the pantry to match our current kitchen since it’s coming out....See MoreI need help with my layout!
Comments (28)Very sorry to hear about your loss. To the extent possible, you should try and take advantage of the opportunity to rebuild in a way that maximizes the best use of your site. Any layout that places the living spaces on the north side of the house is misguided. You want as much light as possible in the spaces you spend the most time in, which are NOT the bedrooms. I would place the master bedroom in the upper right corner (NE), with the guest room adjacent to the garage. Maybe the office is between them. Then arrange the living spaces along the south side of the house, probably with the living room on the left (SW), then the dining area, then the kitchen in the lower right corner (SE) to get morning light. This arrangement will maximize the amount of natural light in the spaces where you live, not sleep. And as an aside, don't worry about the use of skylights. Installed correctly, they will never leak and always provide daylight....See Moregm_tx
