Happy New year all

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. For some reason the site has been acting up and deleting words as I type. Anyways just wanted to say happy new year to all. It's been an interesting winter here in western WI. I haven't had to use the snow blower or tractor at all.

All The Best Guys , Thanks Tom just finished plowing the 2 property drives and wood storage garage area . More snow forecasted Monday . The weekend forecast is milder and sunny 32 deg f. So hope to get in some ice fishing !

Katy, Logee's is certainly an adventure in itself. I've been going there for years. My first times were when Joy Martin was running it. Even squeezing through the aisles single file is worth it. So many exotic plants growing over, under and around! It's only about a 40 minute ride for me. I don't know of any other greenhouses that have that kind of variety. The botanical center at Roger Williams Park here in Providence is big and interesting. There's a $3 admission though. Lunch afterwards would not be a problem. Providence has tons of great restaurants. Maybe some others here would be interested in one of these or something else. Bill

I swore after getting rid of another chunk of daylilies this fall that I wouldn't add but 3 this year. Well, with this winter upon us now I may have to add a few to my list. The high today was in the teens and it's going to stay this cold for awhile. I had a Gerbera daisy in a pot in a very protected place that had over wintered outside up until this last killer front moved in. Now it's toast. On the bright side, I hope all the bad bugs are toast along with it........I'm not ready for spring yet. Still enjoying my vacation inside, but I do wish everyone a happy New Year in 2018 with good health for all their family and loved garden companions..........Maryl

And the same to all of you here! Not to be mean ... but here, in our little sheltered coastal valley, roses are rejoicing that they have had some rain (which may be over for the year) and bursting out with bud and bloom . . . "De la Vina Mystery" (One of the many found "almost-La Reine" roses.)

Have a happy guys! What's snow? All we have is rain!! e.g. Have planted hard neck garlic every fall for over 25 years and this year the garden was almost underwater from mid September to date. As we "speak" I'm listening to rain on the roof.... The plow and snowblower are acquiring a nice coating of dust. Patina? :-)

It's 43 degrees right now. We had rain last week then everything froze so it turned into a skating rink. Supposed to be like this until Tuesday.
