Could we see photos of the rooms? I like your idea of a different chandelier that lights the table in all the various ways you want. I also like sconces in a dining room to put warm pools of light on the walls, but they aren't very good for task lighting. At the table, whatever you're doing is likely to be in your own shadow. It's my view that you need two pairs of sconces in any dining room scheme - so that there is a pair on both of two opposing walls - to balance the light. And I'm also a fan of lots of lamps in a living room, but with a very high ceiling, sometimes a dimmable fixture in the center is great to warm and light the whole room. Here's what we have in our 11' tall living room. In the first photo, you're seeing its reflection - the second one shows you the thing itself. The dining room also has one like this, hung lower to accommodate the table. It's dimmable, and provides plenty of light for puzzles and games when it's cranked all the way up. And there are dimmable lamps in all four corners of the dining room, which we use in conjunction with the drop pendant, dimmed down, for dinners. In that scheme, it can give just enough light to keep faces and food from being in the shadows, but it's still gentle and warm. (I don't know why there's a shadow around it in the photo...??)

Breezy, I think the lights look lovely but boy you sure went through a lot to get them up. I saw a couple of kitchens on here that have mercury glass pendants and I loved the look but the clear glass really looks great. This is a little off topic but I wanted to know a little more about your cabinet pulls. I have 3 that I am considering Aubrey is number one, then Ephram and Chatham for my kitchen. My cabinets are going to also be a white shaker style with a bead on the inside edge. After a year, how do you like them? Did you choose polished nickle or chrome? Are you happy with the color? I know I have looked at your kitchen often and saw a post about the pulls but I can't remember if you used different sizes. My drawers will vary in size from 20" to 28", trash pull out and spice pull out are 16". Then of course doors. Just curious the sizes of your drawers and then your pull selection size. I appreciate any feedback you have. I have truly admired your kitchen!

BTW Carrie, seems like every sofa and chair I've looked at lately has been 39-40" deep, so I was figuring you would have the depth for 36". Hmmm. Sorry. Also, I meant to tell you that I really agree with your decision on the bay window. That was a great addition and it sounds like your kitchen will really open up to the garden too. Hope you post photos when you get it done, and love that you have a job you don't hate! We moved our patio table inside. I'm comfortable with 54". My sons and DH want bigger -- would really like 60". We're leaving it in place to get used to a different perspective -- we're used to a 36x54 rectangle that opens to 54 square in that space.

Glad you like it, it was on my main Houzz feed and I thought of your kitchen right away. It has the same 'feel' to me. I found it a bit cheaper on this site: A & B Home Harper Pendant $136 They say its 20.9" long and 12.6 inches wide. I like it with the new stools because, again, it shares a rustic french country feel in my eyes. I think they definitely would look good together and with the kitchen as a whole. But only you can decide whether these pendants work with the stools and/or the sink light. They're far enough apart but the styles seem different. Is the sink a schoolhouse? Since the sink light is so neutral and simple, a pretty 'working' light, I could definitely live with it.
