Would this chipped granite bother you?
Comments (9)It's the designer's call. The chip would bother me. But so would making the installer replace it. Looks like they did a meticulous job on leveling and joints. I think I would settle for a professional grade epoxy repair which would be durable and virtually undetectable ... especially at a 5-foot distance. (Crushed stone chips are worked into the color-matched epoxy base. After curing, the surface excess is ground smooth to conform to the cut edges. Done very carefully, of course, so that adjacent stone is not accidentally nicked in the grinding ... dental work.) While the walk is very nice looking now, it looks a little interior-ish ... as in prone to being easily damaged in the outdoor environment. You'll need to worry who does the edging and what with. If I did it with my metal blade edger, there'd be about 5 chips to fix after every visit! And they would be concentrated at the rounded interior corner!...See MoreWould this uneven wall bother you?
Comments (38)The architect was hired to see the project to completion. His involvement should not be with straight stone laying, but to explain how the stone should meet the soffit or crown. I'm not going up be the one to tell the masons to fix this. My builder will handle it....See MoreWould this bother you? (Must pay close attention to plans!)
Comments (25)If the goal is to have the left and middle ones centered on the front door AND have the middle and the right one centered on the window, there is only one way to achieve it. Moving the leftmost one to the left by 7". I assume that the columns are 18" wide. Otherwise the plan doesn't make sense. Then if you are standing in front of the door, the door will be centered in between columns. And if you're standing in front of the window, the window will be centered in between columns. But you have wider space on the left, than on the right. Start drawing with that in mind. You'd know what I mean. If the goal is to evenly space three columns , then the best you could do is moving the center one to the left by 5". What Renovator8 said. I'd personally like this scenario better. Currently, you're achieving neither. I'd complain about the designer's incompetence and persuade the builder. It may not be noticeable but whether it will bother you depends on you. I know it would bother me for a long time. This post was edited by ttonk on Sat, Sep 28, 13 at 22:43...See MoreWould this bother you?
Comments (38)Thanks jwillis96. Now I have learned there were 3 problems....bad thermostat wiring, leaks at connection between coil and furnace and at coil and plenum (?) duct. Not giant leaks, but hard to miss if you just hold your hand there for a second...and burned grass where they drained the water heater. At least they are fixing their mistakes. snidley...would you give them a recommendation?? :) None of these are earth shaking, they all seem to be a lack of care and concern. I'm not even thinking they were too lazy for the wire now, I think it was just that they didn't THINK about it and didn't double check it...(doing it by habit I think) Salesman claims he is waiting to hear from mgt about the stat. Hopefully he mentions the air leakage to them as well. (irony...air sealing was part of the package!) I'm not expecting good results at this point. I wonder if the installers will hear about their mistakes? Considering buying the next better stat on ebay and selling this one on there. Considered the IAQ, but not sure how useful it would be since I don't have variable speed, and it is more $$ and different wiring. Did I ever post the grass photo? may as well, the biggest parts of the 2 brown spots are "more" dead now, but the edges near the bottom look a little better. Hubby is a bit anal about keeping grass nice so......See Morecawaps
