Comments (4)I don't know what the sealer recommends for drying time before using it on the grout, but 9 times out of 10, when the sealer turns white, it's because there was moisture in the grout, and you're going to have a bi*ch of a time getting rid of it. I won't even go into the aversion I have to aerosol sealers to start with....See MoreIvory grout turned white!
Comments (2)Thanks. I've used that before on some floor tile and it is like a rubbery paint that is very hard to get off tile. Unfortunately in this application I have the round river rock so to use the grout recolorant I would have to try to paint around all the rocks. Also it can come out a bit streaky because of it's rubbery consistency. I did buy a test bottle and tried it on my test grout board. It was a chore to get it off the rocks and impossible to only get between the rocks. I have a granite counter that was installed many years ago. They used a stone enhancer that turned the white parts yellow which is what we wanted. Unfortunately the place is out of business but I was hoping someone here had some experience with a similar product....See MoreHelp -- white grout turning yellow
Comments (41)Tub and tiles reglazed and SEALED and within 5 months, the grout on 1/4 of the walls, turns yellow every day. I have 9 levels fused in my spine, so I physically cannot toothbrush this problem anymore. I had it professionally reglazed so I would not have to use a toothbrush anymore. I think its the towns awful water. It ruined our toilet to the point we had to replace it. It looked like I NEVER cleaned it ever. The plumber said he has "special talets" to get rid of it, but you have to leave the house for a full day, due to fumes. Funny we get a water bill when we have to lug jugs to the spring, for drinking water in Manchester, CT. The "reglazer" is coming back to re-seal but I do not see how that will be helpful. Grout has fallen off and he plans to just re-seal over it, without regrouting. Guaranteed for 15 years and this is his "fix"? Would a dark grey grout hide the yellow?...See MoreWhite subway tile backsplash. What color grout? Black? White?
Comments (27)I have the Subway Ceramics Avalon / Minas with a medium gray grout. And a Shaw's white sink, if anyone is considering that, by the way. (My contractor could have ordered it directly, but at his request, I went through a tile store, and by the time everyone had put their sugar onto it, it was OBSCENELY expensive.) I'm not an installation expert, but at least with the Subway Ceramics, the installers use little plastic spacers between the tiles (I think some others have their own spacers?) when they put them up, they don't do it freehand, so how much grout you get is a function of 1) the limits set by the curvature of the tile and 2) what size spacers they use. So you might be willing to go a little darker with a smaller grout line, or with a handmade tile that refuses to go close together, you might want to stay light. The traditional color is close to concrete. But most modern people don't seem to like that, so do what pleases you!...See MoreBeth H. :
