I have RL Suede in a couple rooms. I had to call their CS department once about a different question, so I tossed in one about repainting someday. CS rep told me just prime and paint with standard latex. I was going to try that out on a scrap piece of drywall but never did. When 'someday' comes, I'll probably sand it smooth first. (Much as I've enjoyed the suede paint, I dread that job!)

When I was a child in central Texas in the 1950s, my bedroom had wallpaper with cowboys riding broncos on it, and I had a chenille bedspread with a cowboy riding a bronco on it. I hated it and wanted a pink chiffon canopy bed, which my parents refused to get me, although they would have gotten one for my sister if she had asked. I like SW motif in small doses, and this is an overdose. But then I never liked Ralph Lauren and I liked him even less after we had an operations manager from RL work here. He fortunately did not last that long.

You will have no luck with anything , unless you go back to whatever brick and mortar you made the purchase. A bench cushion is always harder to maintain, even with a spring down cushion. But there ARE DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY in spring down cushions as well. . We have no idea what the fabric content is on the "velvet" ........and seems you are seeing a smile line at seam joins. Velvet is a tufted woven fabric, and can be made from many fibers, cotton, polyester, silk. I haven't used any EJ Victor in eons, nor Henredon. But I will say that at one time Henredon was quality. That is loooooong gone and many moons ago. Like twenty five years. Today, Henredon is still not up and running following bankruptcy filing by Heritage group . Henredon was split off, along with Thomasville. The more major point is the American furniture industry has struggled. Regulations, rules, , competition from junk imports, a throw away society who wants a sofa in a week for a grand, and a million other reasons. Including a resistance to pay for quality and what it costs to PRODUCE that quality in these United States.

I've never liked RL, except for some of his sheets, and I especially have never liked his clothes. I do not want to wear anyone's logos - it comes across as pretentious to me. I've never owned a Polo shirt. I used to make a lot of my own clothes instead. We had a production manager at the furniture company where I worked who had just left his position at RL to work with us, and he and I really clashed. I was in charge of R&D and new designs, and he fancied himself a designer, but I was able to point out to our boss that his designs were exact copies from Jean-Michel Frank. My boss said, "At least he stole from the best." He also wanted to be my boss, but I refused. I told him that my only boss was the owner, and I wanted to keep it that way. He wanted to come between us and prevent me from telling her what was really going on. He also wanted to tell me what to do, and I was not going to have that. I wish my boss had finished the book she was working on about herself.
