Comments (44)I got word several days ago that Iris Marie will be processing our order on the week of July 4th. I'm sorry, I meant to post this when the information first came to me but there's so much going on right now at home it sort of slipped my mind. My 91 year old grandmother had to be hospitalized a little over a week ago for a broken leg bone and we're not sure how it happened. She spent 3 days in the hospital then was transferred to a nursing facility for rehab so she'd be able to come back home. After a few days in the nursing home she was complaining about the pain in her leg being so bad she couldn't stand it so she was taken back to the hospital where it was discovered not only was the lower part of her leg broken but there is also a break in the upper leg as well. She has been in the hospital for the past 2 days but was taken back to the nursing home late this afternoon....See MoreAnother year speeding past me
Comments (9)Michael/Lyra, I'm glad to hear from you since I don't do the FB thing at all, it's too frustrating. I noticed you saw my own Maddie canning kale with me, in the company of my imaginary daughter, Ashley. She says to tell you hello, LOL. 7 cats and two dogs, you have your own animal rescue going there! Isn't it fun, though? I know people cringe, but most people I know who hit a deer will eat the salvageable parts, no sense in letting the whole darned thing go to waste. My co-workers used to joke that my weapon of choice for hunting deer was a Buick. (grin) We do have a big deer herd this winter, so I'm looking forward to venison when my nephew goes hunting. He'll always swap me fresh venison for homegrown beef as his wife "doesn't like" venison. she doesn't really "like" my homegrown beef either, though, she only likes commercial beef. (shrug) don't pass up the goose, one of Elery's friends hunts geese and shot three on the farm last year. The breast meat, when marinated and grilled medium rare was very, very good, although a bit tough. Cook it rare and slice it thinly! Hugs to you. Annei...See MoreMid 70s brutalist row house
Comments (45)In its own suburban way, that's what the PO did to this house, magnaverde. We've been spending a lot of time taking out white colonial Home Depot molding and putting in small simple molding (painted the same color as the room), taking out 6 panel fake wood hollowcore doors and replacing them with solid core slab doors or fir single-lite pocket doors...one eyesore I haven't been able to fix yet is in the double -height foyer where a massive foyer fixture once hung, the PO put a cr*ppy white HD fan with shiny fake brass trim...UGH UGH UGH. I actually found a rather tasteful 70s Fredrick Ramond fixture in LN condition at a Habitat store, which would be much closer to what should show in that tall window above the door, but it's *difficult* to get up there and change the fixture out. We've given away so much colonial molding and use the doors for work surfaces. This is no masterpiece house, but it felt like it was being suffocated in faux-colonial trim and we've resimplified it so it could be itself again. Which will probably go completely unappreciated in this neighborhood, but it passed the time. palimpsest, if you have a feeling that you shouldn't post, I completely respect that. Don't want to jinx anything. We'll just have to wait until you have found something and then settled on it and then we can celebrate with you! I have faith that you can do anything you want and will make whichever house (and cash IS king right now, so I understand the drive to underspend) into a photogenic and soul-nourishing home....See MoreAnnette Holbrook(z7a)
