At what point are you a Cancer Survivor?
Comments (23)Aw, man. I can't tell you how much I appreciate and will benefit from, your prayers and good thoughts. Thank you so much. I've signed up for the 'walk' portion of our local Race for the Cure, it's the first of August this year and I'm assuming that by then I'll be able to participate. I'm not a runner at all, my knees won't take it. My surgery is May 1. I've never had a surgery before, not even a C-section, so am naturally scared of what's coming. There's one part of me that says maybe, not knowing, is a blessing, so I can't dwell on anything specific. My mother had a radical mastectomy about 30 years ago, and then 15 years later had colon cancer. She didn't recover from that. So Monday I'm having the dreaded colonoscopy that has scared me for so long. I want to know, without a doubt, that there's nothing else going on....See MoreWhat, no Survivor thread? Comments (12)Sushipup, I watched it, on your recommendation, but the only thing that stood out was the impetus for going straight to the elimination from the challenge. Is there something in particular you were pointing out? I have to admit, I don't remember half of these people, and half of the ones I do remember, I recognize, but would not have remembered if they weren't on screen. I guess I find the game overall more interesting than the people, who, for the most part, seem to be interchangeable puppets, typecast from the casting manual. :) It's a lot like watching one of those banned psych experiments, with palm trees. :) When I was looking for a list of participants, I found another blog where the writer was at the site while they were filming or something. He interviewed Vytas, who said that the whole creepy yoga thing happened when he was asked to help one of the girls who had a bad back. I seem to remember that he's a long time professional yoga instructor, so that makes sense. The blog also said that Peih-Gee sewd a flint into her outfit as a decorative element, got all the way out there, but when she went to use it that first day, the production crew stopped her and confiscated it....See MoreWhat are you watching w/o Survivor?

Comments (42)"I loved the way the final votes were read but trying to figure out how and when that was planned." "A tie could happen anytime, it would only take 1 person to vote for the 3rd person to make a tie." Last season, in one of the Q & A sessions that Dalton Ross does with Jeff Probst, the subject of a tie came up and Jeff said that if there were a tie at the final tribal, then the person not involved in the tie would cast the final, deciding, vote. If you think about it, this is what they do in "regular" tribal councils when there is a tie vote to oust someone. The folks who are tied do not get to vote again, and everyone else votes again with votes only being cast for one or the other of the folks who are tied. Ok, now for "how and when it was planned." When everyone is done voting at a tribal council, Jeff always says, "I'll go tally the votes." Then he comes back and dramatically pulls them from the urn and reads them. If Jeff just grabbed the urn and brought it back to his post and started randomly pulling them out and reading them, it would not be nearly as dramatic as it has been. That's because when he goes off to "tally the votes," he actually looks at each one, and then they are arranged in the urn in a manner that will provide the most drama as they are being read. In last night's case, when Jeff previewed the votes and saw that there was a tie, he knew he HAD to read them out loud to the group right then and there, because he knew that Laurel would have to cast the deciding vote. No, he couldn't have waited and had Laurel cast the vote at the beginning of the reunion show, because it would have been a tainted vote. Think about it -- when they are on location, they have no idea what is going on. They only know what they see and hear. They don't know what another player is saying to the camera in the "confessional" interviews; they don't know what other players and saying to each other behind someone's back, etc. By the time the live shows rolls around, they've been home for several months, and they've watched every episode on tv, just like we have. That final vote needed to be cast in a manner that represented what Laurel felt at the time, uninfluenced by outside factors....See More- 7 years ago
