White or ivory PB daybed cover & skirt for vintage iron bed?
Comments (16)So glad to help! We also had to order it sight unseen, but I really liked the "minimal" l styling of this one, and I wanted to take advantage of a what appeared to be a really good sale (30% off I think it was???). We thought the bedframe was going to be black but apparently it wasn't! The color name was misleading, and of course, this style was not available in the store. When it was delivered (within days of my parents arrival for a week-long visit, no less), we decided we liked it well enough, and felt it went really well with the floor tile, the C&B dresser we had ordered (which arrived a few days later), etc., so kept it. The quality seems good. It's a bit "oversized' for the mattress and bedframe (a little bit of tucking under, and using small clips; I clipped the bedskirt to the underside of the frame, helps keep it looking neat--probably hadn't done that yet when I took those pics!). I haven't washed it yet, but do take a lint roller or vacuum to it if the cats have been hanging out on it. I keep the mattress pads on the mattresses. Mostly for storage, but it also helps fill out the cover a bit more. The mattresses are not very plump and cushion-y (the one on the pop-up trundle would never fit under the daybed itself if it was any thicker anyway). When my parents come over, we pull out the pop-up trundle (and pop it up), remove the pillows, bolsters, and daybed cover, and then make up the beds with sheets and comforters and regular bed pillows. During my parents' visit(s), the throw pillows and daybed cover then go in the closet on the shelves where the comforters and sheets are normally kept. The only thing that remains on the daybed, with or without the cover on, is the bedskirt (and the mattress pads; I wash those and replace them after my parents' visit, and then make the daybed up again with the cover, bolsters, and throw pillows)....See MoreHelp Me Think: Swinging Daybed on Patio (pics!)
Comments (31)Good luck on building your swinging daybed! I have been designing and building swinging beds for several years now. My designs begin with vintage architectual parts such as porch railings. The bed featured in the Seibels web site is one of my original designs which is now being reproduced. My most current one is featured on the web site www.thecommissarydesignwarehouse.com. The beds on this web site and at their store are more reasonably priced. The one on this web site hangs from a stand I designed rather than the ceiling but best results are to hang from 4 separate ropes, chains or cable. The movement is similar to a glider and a raft on calm water. The same design bed as featured on the Seibels site is featured in the June 2008 issue of Southern Living on page 96. I am currently suggesting an inflatable mattress from Bed Bath and Beyond which only cost $50. It is very suitable for outside since it is basically plastic/rubber. Royal Bedding in Birmingham AL area manufactures a very water resistant mattress which I also recommend. If I can provide any detail information/advise while your are developing your bed just let me know. Good luck!...See MoreDaybed/Trundle Bedding ?
Comments (6)juddgirl2, yes you are correct, I am going to have to hide that trundle which is very close to the ground, and I want the skirt to cover all that contraption and the mattress, so I will have to have a daybed cover - I am wanting it to look tailored and fit well. daisyadair, well I better not get a comforter, but more of a fitted spread type of thing - I hate it when comforters fall off the bed too - it is a pain in the neck. I am hoping to find a bedskirt that will be more fitted and tailored - want to keep my cats out of there too - not sure if that will work. Ha 1 I know one if not both ends will be visible on the room, so I want those covered too. We shall see. I do have a king sized chenille bedspread my mom gave me a long time ago that is a crisp white which might work - but I am not into crisp white colors in decorating. But I just talked to her the other day and told her she could have it back - she moved to a new place and wants a bigger bedspread - thank goodness I didn't get rid of it. Thanks for all your help. I am going to pick up the daybed/trundle this am so once I get it here I will be better able to tell what I need and how it will look in the room....See MoreWhat do you think of this daybed for DD? Comments (7)Just to clarify, she mentions in her add she is only selling the frame (orig. cost $400) and that is all I need since I have two mattresses in DD's room now that I will be using. Then I'll just sell her oak bedframe as I agree most don't want a used mattress--esp. kids as you don't know if they bedwet. lindac: Oh, so I use a sham with a trundle. Do you know if I could just use what I just bought which is a twin "bed-in-a-bag" and just get another sham? It includes the dust ruffle. I've not opened it yet, but my DD loves the pattern. The trundle will only be used for occasional sleepovers and sometimes my older daughter will sleep there when grandma comes to visit and then grandma sleeps in my older DD's room.
