My latest project... Daybed???s
Comments (28)You're welcome! For me, it was worth the extra expense to get an authentic looking and quality iron bed. I bought my DS a Wesley Allen bed before I found Charles P and it looks nice, it's a good bed, but it's very lightweight compared to this daybed and my DD2's antique iron bed. Charles P has free shipping right now and I might be mistaken but I don't think I was charged tax, since they're back east. I did wait a few weeks extra b/c I ordered it in a non-standard finish so they made one just for me, but it wasn't a long wait. Another option is Loading Dock Antiques where I bought my DD2's antique iron bed, but they don't usually have many daybeds. You can get a custom finish though if you decide to use a twin. They sandblasted mine to get the old paint off and repainted in a chippy, glazed antique white finish. It's a mom and pop shop (literally), and the wife would call me and send photos during the finishing process. Since it's an antique, it's a few inches wider than a standard twin, but it was easy and inexpensive to order a custom-size bunkie board from a local mattress manufacturer. With the custom finish, it was about the same price as the daybed. I LOVE both beds. Comments (18)Hi Chris, I just took a measurement for you and there is a good 6 inches between the end of the mattress and the metal on the foot of the bed. I never really thought of that before, I'm 5'7" and DH is 5'10" so we don't hang over but I can see where that would be nice for someone taller. It's a pretty inexpensive bed from Ashley's but I like the combo of metal and sleigh bed style. Here's the link :-) Mimi Here is a link that might be useful: metal sleigh bed...See MoreDuvet Cover Help
Comments (20)Thanks for the compliments everyone. I'm really enjoying how soft and cozy it is on these cold mornings and nights. I also love how it is easy to make the bed look neat and finished, even straight from the dryer. My only complaint would be it doesn't have corner ties, so I've used safety pins instead. Thank you for the compliments on the blanket, it's my favorite shade of green. I bought it on vacation in Ireland. I wish I had the skills to knit it!...See MoreUsing a day bed as a sofa...
Comments (39)Well, changing linens won't be that much of an issue, since it might get slept on maybe twice a year....but I do wonder if the back on the Overstock one is just too high. I have now realized that the "day bed" in the inspiration pic isn't even a day bed after all! Just a regular twin bed. I still want a day bed. This may be my late summer/early fall project. This house was reno'd 7 years ago and we just threw stuff in the room without much thought. Now my wheels are turning... of course I'll need a different (taller) table and a new rug and and funky floor lamp or wall sconce...and of course tons of pillows....See Moreyayagal
