Marking up raw job costs to establish project quotation.

I'd like to have a sampling of opinion from my peers.

I provide a fixed price bid to my clients for a carefully detailed scope of work, schedule and level of execution. To arrive at that price, I pay for direct job costs ( labor costs, appliances, sub-contractor services, materials and products ) for my clients. Then I mark these costs up to cover my overhead and profit. I have been trained to apply the percentage for O&P based on my company's cost of doing business. I make this to be 50%.

How do other remodeling contractors address this topic? What are others marking up.
