HiIm having a house built by a large Builder so we only can tweak a few things. I definitely know I want a stone fireplace with a raised Hearth. With this option, the third window on the Second Story family room is eliminated and the stonework goes all the way up to the top of the Second Story family room. I did not want to lose a window on the second level due to backing to woods and being dark.I combined the two options. No regrets.I need to tell the Builder where to stop the stone. I can either stop the stone a foot down from the window bottom (etc) or build the stone work all the way up to the bottom of the top window frame. At first I was going to have the Stone stop level with the bottom window top edge, but I decided that wasn't dramatic enough fireplace will be the focal point in the room.Where would you stop the stone work?Sample pics in commentsThank you!
