I can easily see how that could happen. Whenever someone in my family changes their password on Comcast email I receive a notification from Comcast that someone has changed their password. Google also sends a notice if I change something or if I sign in from a new device.

Will second Moni's comment. For a period of several weeks to a month, I was getting repeated emails, supposedly from Microsoft, about a need to "update" my account immediately or my email would be curtailed. However they ALL came from various private email addresses, NOT Microsoft!! And yes, the grammar was off :-)

And no, my email account was just fine, thank you very much, and was never "curtailed"!

I always check the source before I open any email.

I want all of you to be aware of this on. I thought it was legit at first because my DD's email address was in the Stars ID box. She has given me some before about my GKids school things. This one didn't sound right though. I talked to her a bit later and I asked her about it and she said its a scam. I never had clicked anything and I hit the scam button. I deleted her email on this here so you all wouldn't get it. But it was there.

There were 3 boxes across. The first one said registered on Pokerstars, the second one said account license NET and the third one said Stars ID with DDs email address in it. I don't know why that part did not show up when I copied and pasted it. I hope you all understand how I explained this.

I got a couple of very legit looking ones a few days ago. One was a purchase to my PayPal and one was a purchase through the apple store. I don't have any apple anything definitely not an account. For PayPal I opened my browser and logged in to my account and checked for any such purchase. Nope not there of course. So in the spam folder they went. But I could see someone who was busy and not paying attention could have clicked on the PayPal one and got hit. It was a very good quality fake.

I've also gotten them from PayPal. And various banks as well. But since I have no accounts with any of them, it's not too hard to figure out they were scamming. Or trying to :-)

Thanks for the head's up. It would be easy enough to click and then think "uh oh, I shouldn't have!" It's good to not be in a hurry.

This prompted me to look in my email spam folder. Most were ads but I found about 6 scam requests from people hoping to reel me in. I've never had one of these make it into my normal email folders though.
