Dec Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (32)Wow Donna, that is really pretty! Really like the applique. Sandra, Having surgery close to Christmas is one way to get the shopping done. Hope your recovery is swift and uneventful. You and Sue will be able to compare notes on your RV travels. Do you have a blog where we can keep track of you and how you're doing? We have another week in this month.....bet we all feel drained just trying to get things done by tomorrow. I really liked the Twister Christmas Tree, so started looking online for the tool and pattern.....figured I'd treat myself. I ended up going to the LQS to see if they had it. They did....cost more but I didn't have to pay postage or wait for it to be delivered. They didn't have the tree pattern but had the wreath. Hoping to at least get it sewed, cut and sewed back together again by the end of the year. We opened gifts this morning with DD's family.......I'll save that for the January goals. Suffice it to say, I see a 1600" quilt in my future. @:) ..... orange! SharonG/FL...See MoreDec 2010 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (18)I'm still doing the finish work on the log cabin quilt, but when you said Marmalade, you plunked my magic twanger. I've been taking advantage of the citrus sales at the market, and my DH has decided the fruit wasn't inviting this year, so I have to make Marmalades too in order they don't go to waste. It has always been a Christmas tradition in this house because that's when, since childhood, oranges and clementines always showed up in the house in bulk. I checked my pantry and the only jar in it is from my daughter, who has already made her Holiday marmalades. After I finish the log cabin and get the paper-pieced blocks together and off the wall (this one is going out to a machine quilter).........I was hoping to start on my all-wool quilt, right down to the backing and batting. However, Sue's 'thangles' are niggling at my brain and I know it's in the future sometime. LOL. Stay warm! Oh btw, I was looking through an 1897 Sears Catalogue and found rolls of pure cotton batting three foot by seven foot long for 6 and 7 cents a roll. LOL....See MoreDec 2012 Quilting/Sewing hopes....
Comments (23)Sharon hope you heal quickly from your eye surgery. I am using the Leah Day binding method on my Grandma's queensize quilt binding, except am doing all the sewing by hand, so doing the corner folds in reverse. Since I am doing it by hand I am not worried about fabric thickness to sew through so I may just join the ending seams of fabric flush with each other rather than do diagonal - I'll just wait and see how I feel about it when I get to that point as which way to tackle it. This is the first time for me to ever use the Leah Day method and the corner folds have been easy so I will probably be using this binding method on future quilts. In addition to my Grandma's quilt I still have some crocheted bookmarks to finish making for gifts, so I have a busy week ahead of me. I am excited about 2013 and have already started a quilting project list. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and peaceful New Year. Best to you and yours, quiltingfox...See MoreStuff, 15 items in 15 weeks in 2015
Comments (35)This will be easy for me now that two of three kids have moved out. I have been purging, decluttering, and organizing for about 13 months. Not non stop Or I'd actually be on top of the stuff already. I'm asking myself when I'm purging, Will I ever use this again? do I need more than one or two of this item? If I get rid of it will I have to get a replacement within 18 months? Where can I put it- that is as close as possible to the place it's to be used. And if I'm stumped and not sure whether to keep something emotional, I'll ask myself if my family would enjoy it once I pass away. If I think they wouldn't care eitherway, it goes, because I'm not taking anything with me. My biggest battle isn't letting go of stuff but what to do with the items. I live in the country, so no free on the curb drop off. I am on a few facebook "items for sale" sites, craigslist, Amazon and Ebay. That all takes time though, so things wait till I get to them. Most all the clothes go to a local charity but I just can't toss perfectly good items. Old, well used, dysfunctional item, yes those go into the trash but the ficus tree is still in the basement with hopes someone will love it again one day. Ok, that will be one of my 15 items out of the house this week. I'd like to do this with you too....See Morenannykins
