andreammd - I'm afraid I can't help much with stone yards in BC, I'm in Ottawa and I had to go to Montreal to get the quartzite. That said, I'm sure Vancouver must have a couple of great stone yards with a good enough selection to stock quartzite. I doubt you would find it anywhere other than in the lower mainland generally, but who knows? The quartzite goes by a few names, I've seen Luce di luna from most of the US posters, at Ciot (the stone yard I visited in both Mtl and Toronto) it is called Quartzite Bianca. There are other white/grey quartzites out there that seem to hit that combination of a marble feel without the granite look and yet more movement than quartz, so definitely call a few yards and ask to see everything they've got. I have also seen here on Gardenweb a few white/grey granites that I actually like - it would probably be worth looking at all of the white/grey quartzites and granites in case you see a granite you like as well. I saw lots of the more common white/grey granite slabs at Ciot, but nothing that really did it for me. Good luck!

The guy came back to polish the area. I was home when he was doing it. From one angle you couldn't see the spot anymore but from another way (you have to just be looking right and have the right lighting) you could and the spot was bigger. He said that should go away as the polish soaks in. Well, this morning the softball size area is still there but a little bigger. I don't know what to do. I maybe too picky, and have to stop looking. But I know that I don't want him back again. Our KD said that he's good and has been with them for awhile. There is always some bumps along the way. Our kitchen is turning out great though. Rapping up this week. I will have to figure out how to post pictures.

Thanks Bill. We've already paid in full. We didn't notice the dull area until the undercabinet lights were installed. Anyone have any thoughts on allowing the granite place to try a polish or will that just wear off in time?

You probably just pulled off some of the sealer in that area. Re-seal the affected areas and buff it like waxing a car and you should get the polish back.
