Sometimes a leather sofa can be upholstered and look perfect after it is finished at the factory however depending on what part of the hide is used it can look dried out in spots as you have described. What type of leather is this? Is it a full aniline (high end) leather, a pigmented painted leather. This would most likely occur in a higher end full aniline dyed leather as with a pigmented leather the surface would be fully covered with "paint". Does the leather have a waxy surface, wax pull up". It could be repaired in most cases with a good leather tech. You could try a conditioner but then the conditioner may interfere with the repair. I think you said previously you purchased this at Macy's. I would call them and make a claim as this is really a defect.

The "Operations Manager" from the countertop place came by today - along with the Project Manager from Home Depot. (I purchased my granite through Home Depot). In a nutshell, the OM said that they couldn't do anything about it - but that they would send the same guy back to "give it another try". Now, why don't I feel confident about that???? The other option was that they'll just replace all of my granite - no charge. How magnanamous of him. I am just days away from a completed kitchen, and he wants to send his crew in to rip it up??? NO! Then to top it off, I'd have to have my tile guy, my plumber, and the final cleaning redone? Not to mention spend several more weeks in chaos! Of course he knew that I wouldn't accept that offer, that is why he so graciously offered it. (That's what I think anyway). So the installer guy coming back tomorrow to give it another try is just insuring that the OM can say "Well, Ms. Boxie, we tried everything we can". (and what he won't say is "Tough sh*t lady, you'll have to live with it!"). So... Miss Susan.. THANK YOU for giving me the idea to get on the phone. I called another well known (and respected) granite place. I told them of the situation, and he gave me a name and phone number for a "Granite Specialist" - telling me that if he can't do it, nobody can. This granite specialist doesn't work for the other granite place, so there was nothing to gain from his telling me the info for the "GS". He is coming out tomorrow morning at 7am, to tell me what he can do and how much $ it will be. But he did say that he's confident that he can help, and not to worry. If this specialist guy can help, I will then tell Mr. OM from the original granite place - how much he's going to need to stroke out that check for. :) I love GW! Y'all are SOOO much help! dark spots from wet are normal even on sealed granite. the haze is typically minerals left behind by the evaporating water. a little rubbing with 00 or 000 steel wool will remove mineral deposits without hurting the granite. (do not use steel wool on marble.)

jannicone, I have River White. I think it's very similar to Glacier White but Glacier White wasn't available anywhere I looked around here (Philadelphia suburbs). Maybe it's a regional naming difference? Thank you everyone for the reassurance. My mom stopped by to see the new counters today and tried to find the spot without me pointing it out and could not. The fabricator did come back today and said if he added gray to the repair he thought it would stand out too much. After we all stared at it for a few minutes, we all agreed to just leave it. I'm sure we will accumulate more offensive chips or scratches or stains in the future so I'll try to save my belly aching for that. Yes, I would have expected a heads up from the installers but can't change that. It's a lot of money and expectations can run away from you with stuff like this. I do have to remind myself that it is a natural stone and that's what happens to it sometimes. At the end of the day, I got an amazing deal and love the counters overall. Thanks again!
