EA/CF houseplants sold with wicks already inserted

I have bought a few plants with wicks in the past couple months, a Hemigraphis, Senecio, Plerandra (false Aralia,) Alternanthera, and this cute rhizomatous Begonia:

The blue at the bottom is the wick. When I cut off the top of a plastic water bottle, the pot wedges right in, and the wick is dangling into water.

I'm pretty excited about this because I have a terrible time watering plants often enough over winter because I can't just deluge them until lots of water flows out of the drain holes without moving each one outside or to kitchen or bathroom. AND, I don't feel the same sense of urgency to repot these into bigger pots right away. I can wait until it's a more convenient time.

Are you seeing these? Have you gotten any? How long ago? Did you leave them as-is & provide water for the wick to absorb?
