Anyone use Kitchen Tune-up?
Comments (2)I think you may have some bad information about the process they use. The idea of applying both lacquer and varnish struck me as improbable, so I checked their website: "A Tune-Up is our proprietary wood reconditioning process. We start by separating, then removing, the build-up (dirt, grease, wax, smoke and dust) from the woodÂs original finish. Then, we touch up and blend the areas where color may have faded and apply a special colorant. Finally, we can treat your cabinets with a special penetrating oil that restores dried-out wood fibers or apply an entirely fresh coat of finish." So their typical "topcoat" is either a penetrating oil or a fresh coat of some other unspecified finish. My guess is that this sort of process could certainly spruce-up the look of worn cabinetry, but the effect is probably short-lived. I'd consider doing something like this to improve the look of an older kitchen when selling a house, but I wouldn't think of it as an equivalent to new cabinetry or true refinishing....See MoreKitchen tune-up...
Comments (1)Rebeccamom123: Some granites take a sealer, some don't. As a general rule the darker and more dense stones don't. I use Tenax Proseal and its application is easily a DIY project. Good luck....See MoreKitchen mini- refresh
Comments (62)LOL, IIRC your DH is an electrician? Did he notice my funky exposed wiring? My guy tells me it will hang straight eventually (it is shipped as a coil). But I feel vindicated about the exposed wire. I saw it in a UK decor show last night (love love this room BTW), and in a lamp DD got from Ikea. Comments (28)OK we went with granite. Just to share with you guys about the work in progress. This is what it looks after we put up the "new venus galaxy" granite. Now, for faucet, I'm debating between these three: 1. KRAUS Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet and Soap Dispenser (Costco Item# 1584403) 2. Delta Pull-Down High Arc Single Handle Kitchen Faucet (Costco Item# 1647335) 3. Delta Owendale Single-Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet (HomeDepot Internet#: 310215289) Any thoughts about this? When we go to a lot of open-house recently, it seems that the trend is to use a commercial style of Spring Pull-Down kitchen faucet (#2 faucet above), but I'm not sure if that would work well with a cherry kitchen cabinet themed kitchen that has a bit of old world charm. Any feedback would be highly appreciated. Also, for the backsplash, should we go with a light colored subway tiles? Thoughts? Thanks again!...See MoreJoAnne
