Shaw's Original Fireclay, single bowl, apron front??
Comments (9)I have this sink and have been using it for over two years at this point...high traffic kitchen, three kids five-and-under...so no one is exactly "delicate" with anything around here! Love it, the size is great, it cleans up like a dream, has a nice sheen to it and fits just about anything (I have the 30" single bowl). I do have one pencil-tipped size chip in one corner. You definitely can see it if the sink is super-clean, though I'm not sure others would notice it unless they were "inspecting" it. I would still get this sink, even with the tiny chip. Otherwise, looks like the day it was installed--and I frequently leave stuff in it for a full day (pasta sauce, coffee, etc). Since it is a big single-bowl sink with a very gradual slope, you have to use the sprayer to clean it to the edges, just so you know. I'm not sure if that's true of other single-bowl sinks, but just something to think about. Good luck! (oh, and buy it online if you can--I paid $600 two years ago for it online and the same sink at my local plumbing supply place was almost $300 more! Ridiculous!) Comments (43)Prads, Glad you're happy with your choice. I'm looking forward to finally having a single bowl SS sink (also 30") again. I bought the Ruvati, which was just a bit less expensive than the Kraus and, on paper, seemed comparable. I've only seen it in the box, but so far I love it. I can't wait to ditch my double sink! My new sink comes with a grid, and I'm wondering whether I'll want to use it or not. Have you tried the sink with and without the grid? A final thought--when I read posts praising double sinks I find myself wondering what in the world these people are talking about---and I imagine they wonder the same thing when I'm extolling the virtues of a single basin sink. It just shows we're all different and use our sinks in different ways---definitely not a one-size-fits-all choice....See MoreAdvice on Farmhouse Apron front double bowl sink.
Comments (31)70/30 and 60/40 are almost worse than 50/50. I dunno... After only having 50/50 my whole life (all 36 years of it, lol), I'm quite impressed by my experimental* 70/30. :-D The disposal is in the smaller section (kind of a pain), but the smaller section is closer to the stove, so it's not too bad. My colander perfectly spans the small section, so when I'm draining pasta, nothing touches the bottom of the sink. Which is really nice. I hand wash very few things, but I don't fill the sink up to do it (soapy sponge and slowly running water do the trick for me). All of that said, my dreams are filled with copper single basin sinks, so that I only have one disposal and one drain to clean. :-) [*experimental -- trying it out in the tract house we just had built, because I wanted to convince the husband that there's more to life than 50/50, and the builder wanted far too much for the single basin upgrade; the ultimate goal is to do single basin in the custom house.]...See MoreKitchen:install single big sink in place of the current double sink?
Comments (2)Yes it can be done, counters get cut and Re finished on site. The trick is finding the right person. No one does that here in Savannah, if you are in Florida you are in luck. Won’t be cheap though....See MoreJamie Ludwig
