How to pull this greenish gray chair together with black leather
Comments (0)I just ordered two swivel/rocker/recliners from a local store equivalent to these online: Palliser: Cipher http://www.furnitureblue.com/furniture/cipher-recliners.html I chose this Fabric: Geo Garden http://www.furnitureblue.com/images/colors/Geo%20Garden.jpg I HOPE the links work, but my question is: Do you think that this color and fabric will look nice with a black leather sofa? I'm trying to introduce some sort of pattern into the room and also something besides black leather. The staff designer helped choose this. Now, I'm pretty much stuck with the "special order" so this is kinda late to be asking but, just wanted some suggestions how to pull it all together with paint and or a rug... Thanks for your help : )...See MoreSettee and chair - can these work together? (pics)
Comments (13)Thanks so much for the feedback - this is exactly what I need! Lemme address the issues raised: Dilly Dally - thanks for the compliment! Scale is one of those things that I need help on. The settee is 62" wide. The chair is 28" wide, 24" deep, 30" high. We'd be putting two chairs next to each other, across from the settee, so with a little space between, they'd be approximately the same width as the settee. Fabric choice - NOT the one in the pic, that's for sure! I'm getting samples of three fabrics - a light blue with a rust scroll pattern (that might fight with the rug), a rust with a muted gold pattern, and a gold with a rust pattern. All the rusts are a few shades lighter than the rust on the settee. Palimpsest, arm heights are definitely different - chair arm is high at 30", settee is lower at 23-1/2". Huh. That might be weird. Maybe I need to put a 30" high box next to the settee and see how it reads. Htnspz, what you can't see from the angle of the picture is that this is a long skinny room - 24-1/2' long but only 12' wide. We're breaking it up into two seating areas separated by an off-center fireplace on one long wall. We're putting the furniture at a 90-degree angle to the long walls instead of on them, because if we line the long walls with seating, we get a bowling-alley effect. The settee is actually close to the back of the room - behind it are pocket doors leading to a second long skinny room. Les917, I hear you. The frame of the chair is very dominant and it's a "look at me!" piece. Which is good and bad. Lucite, that's an intriguing idea.... Thank you all for your comments - I really appreciate them. I'll let you know what we decide....See MoreDoes brown leather and grey couch work together?
Comments (53)Well, something's got to give. Either both girls get a recliner and parents are SOL, or you choose a layout that is attractive and sensible for the room as a whole and no one reclines lol. Or only those with a medical need recline ;) The first pic you posted in the last batch, with the two white sofas and two grey chairs, would work really well in your room. One of the chairs could recline. If you wanted you could use a sectional in place of the two white sofas. That's similar to what I was suggesting above. If you have an ottoman to put your feet up on would your younger daughter feel that was fair? Or would it make your husband more comfortable with saying, "life's not fair kid"?
