Daylilies with bite: toothies!
Comments (18)I LOVE TEETH!!! The more the merrier! That is one look I will never tire of in a dl! I was so happy to read in your comments in the trendy dl thread that Lambertson is working on getting more colors. I want to see a neon pink dl with neon green teeth! And make that HUGE teeth! I was just recently asked 'how do you describe teeth to a nondaylily person?' I describe it as taking a pinking shears & cutting all around the tepals. Good analysis? How do you explain it?...See MoreBest Toothy Cultivars of 2010

Comments (3)Debra, can it really be that time of the year already? Say it isn't so....oh well. Well, I don't generally count buds but I do notice which are best. This inspired me to go check a few and see what I had more or less. Every year my winner is Purple Riot with 5 branches on almost every scape and 5-7 buds per branch or 25-35 buds total. [the mistaken AHS site claims it has 5 buds on 5 branches LOL. I sent them an email today to challenge that and offer a picture. Spiritual Corridor, with up to 20 buds on most scapes. New this year. Russian Rhapsody just slightly less than SC. It's best year ever, an old Munson. No clump shot, unfortunately. Always reliable, more buds than usual. Vintage Wine, the clump in front had 3 way branching and 15 or so buds. Another old Munson. It always performs well, this was a bit better than usual. Acquire the Fire, around 12-15 per scape, 3-way branching. Prairie Blue Eye, another oldie, had 15 on 3 way branching on a couple of scapes, 10 on others. Many of my high performers of past years-Prismatic, Karen's Curls & a couple of others-only had about 10 this year. Brad...See MoreBest Patterned Daylilies of the 2018 Season
Comments (26)All the patterned daylilies posted are amazing. I especially like Bow Tie Affair and Stenciled Infusion. Karen, your seedlings are lovely. I hope they have good plants under those beautiful flowers. Here are my best patterns. Geometric Wizard continues to be one of my favorites. It does very well here for a southern-bred daylily. Curious Cutie is from the same hybridizer and I have often wondered if they share genetics. Its biggest fault is that it turns to mush in rain, but Geometric Wizard does not. I Don't Kid is doing well here. The third flower in the background is Purple Maze which is very similar in looks. I love the delicate coloring on Ink and Pink. Four Beasts in One is not well established yet, but I like the looks of it. Oceans Eleven has been in the garden for many years. I love the eye. It often has a metallic look. Here is Get Jiggy in our garden. This is the best pattern we have seen, but we haven't seen it often. Of course, if patterns really show best in cooler weather, we aren't going to see many in west central Indiana. I know I have gone over my limit, but I have to post a pattern we found in a seedling. I didn't expect it as neither parent has a pattern. Nancy...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
