Leather bar stool in kitchen - what do you think?
Comments (30)Hello Friend! Thank you for the call-out: I would've hated to miss this thread. Did the Festival affect you? I bet you avoided Yorkville like the plague! Too many photogs snapping your photo, asking about your kitchen .... auchmedden, ci_lantro and malhgold all said exactly what I was thinking -- I still love (and vastly prefer) the "original" stool (the brown leather with chrome legs), and their shape echoes your Parsons armchairs without being matchy-matchy / twee. My concern (based on my imagination) about white stools is that it would make your space look a bit like X, Y, X, Y, X, Y -- you know, white, brown, white, brown, white, brown. I really like the way the white is the ultimate wall, highlighted by your to-be white-ish grey Parsons chairs, picked up again by the lighter color of your family room sofa. The eye travels around your great room (the combined family room and kitchen) without taking an extra (and in my mind, unnecessary) stop at the white stools which would, in my opinion, just detract (detract from the beautiful stained island, detract from those magnificent pendants [because instead of going up, the eye would go down to the white stools], detract from the overall vision your kitchen is). Now I'm not in your real room, and I'm not going to live there (although it's so beautiful I'd love to!), so clearly everything I've written is worthless in light of what you and your husband think. Oh wait, I do want to add that I think with the dark brown stool the chrome legs are actually necessary in addition to being quite pretty -- they help keep the eye moving, they help subtly differentiate the stools from the island, and they keep the subtle modern touch going (without screaming LOOK AT ME! I'M MODERN!). I am really excited for you -- you have come so far, and I'll be better about checking for your threads when I visit this forum! xo...See MoreNeed suggestions for dining room chairs and bar stools
Comments (2)For dining chairs, you can either try to match the wood tones, or go all-leather/fabric. I would choose something like these: https://www.houzz.com/products/side-chair-in-medium-brown-finish-set-of-2-prvw-vr~62906955 https://www.houzz.com/products/mia-modern-dark-brown-faux-leather-upholstered-dining-chair-set-of-2-prvw-vr~109369377 For stools, I would stick with a saddle style, or something with a low back. https://www.houzz.com/products/mia-modern-dark-brown-faux-leather-upholstered-dining-chair-set-of-2-prvw-vr~109369377 https://www.houzz.com/products/osp-designs-metro-29-saddle-stool-with-nails-and-espresso-legs-molasses-prvw-vr~87970231 Hope this helps!...See MorePlease help me narrow down choices - dining room chairs and bar stools
Comments (21)Your place looks really rustic, reminds me of our old ski house. What do the legs on your table look like? I don't like your first chair option for your place. Depending on the table legs I think the last two chairs might be a good option. I like the turquoise stool in either that or a cream color. I like the idea of the dark stained legs because of the nice contrast they give to the pine in the house....See MoreWhat bar stool would look good with my dining chairs?
Comments (2)Depending on your family and life style I would avoid fabric covered anything. The dining room seems to be significantly easier to keep chairs really clean in vs the stools at an island in my experience. For us when we did our kitchen which is open to the dining area I wanted the stools to be very low profile and not be the star. I wanted the island and the colour of it, which is a dark grey called iron mountain to be the star. As a result our stools are actually chrome bottoms and then acrylic see through on the top. With three kids I need to wipe them often but everything always wipes off...I shudder to imagine if they were fabric!...See MoreFori
