A snake was hiding in the lawnmower and bit him several times. This is the time of year when more snakes are out and active. This is the rattlesnake that took the life of 82-year old Eddie Lee Dorminey Wednesday morning in Enigma. It was first thought that Dorminey had died of a heart attack but when Lt. Larry Tabor looked under the lawnmower, he noticed a rattlesnake wrapped around a pulley. "When we found out the snake was alive we checked out the body again and on his wrist he had several areas that were punctured, a snake bite in the main artery," said Lt. Tabor. Investigators said Dorminey was apparently changing the lawnmower belt and didn't notice the snake was there. "The sheriff got a stick and went to punch it and all of the sudden the snake started moving," said Lt. Tabor. The venomous snake was then killed. Dorminey's grandson says he misses the man who he called "Papa D." "I miss him. I love him alot." He says his "Papa D" was always there for his entire family. "His lawnmower was like a tractor to him. I always helped him with his lawnmower." Statistics show only about a dozen Americans die from snake bites per year. Watch where you step, watch where you reach, because rattlesnakes can blend in with their environment. This time of year, they're on the move. Rattlesnakes like to stay where it's cool and near a food source. While his death is difficult to deal with, Dorminey's family wants others to be aware of the venomous snakes out there. Comments (17)I book 3 months in advance for both colour and hair cuts - separate businesses but on same floor so I go one week for colour and the next for a cut and of course located at the other end of Toronto. I don't dare book same day in case colourist is behind. Many of the clientele do, and I am sure everyone knows that these are the "special" clients - they don't pay any more than I do, but they have money. I have very thick, dry, naturally wavy hair that is the devil to cut - and since I have to have my hair coloured auburn - at 60 - greyed in my 20s to a horrible iron grey -it is a blessing to find a good colourist. I did it myself for years before the colour I used was d/c - and then the next etc. etc. I have found though that in earlier years that I could get in some place just because a good hair dresser can do anything with my hair - whereas I am useless - and it makes them look good. Thankfully, I have a Toronto doctor - but she is a sole practitioner and I am afraid every time I go that she will announce her retirement, despite being 10 years my junior. It is almost impossible to get a doctor in Toronto or Ontario in general - and yes, you do have to be interviewed - and the doctors can turn you down. Comments (14)That's great! One of these two lilacs developed blackened leaves ALL over, I'm talking pitch black, even the little buds that had started to open had black leaves starting to emerge. It looked awful. Like it was dying right before my eyes. I have no idea what was going on with it, because i have a good success rate with these shrubs, but thankfully the other lilac is doing fantastic. The leaves are huge and a luscious green. I pulled the awful looking $8 lilac, and am replacing it with a declaration lilac, my favorite of all the lilacs. I bought 3 lilacs at Walmart a couple years ago, and they are doing incredibly well, and growing so fast, too. I wish you success with yours....See More- 7 years ago
