I've heard of Doctors not accepting new clients BUT
Comments (17)I book 3 months in advance for both colour and hair cuts - separate businesses but on same floor so I go one week for colour and the next for a cut and of course located at the other end of Toronto. I don't dare book same day in case colourist is behind. Many of the clientele do, and I am sure everyone knows that these are the "special" clients - they don't pay any more than I do, but they have money. I have very thick, dry, naturally wavy hair that is the devil to cut - and since I have to have my hair coloured auburn - at 60 - greyed in my 20s to a horrible iron grey -it is a blessing to find a good colourist. I did it myself for years before the colour I used was d/c - and then the next etc. etc. I have found though that in earlier years that I could get in some place just because a good hair dresser can do anything with my hair - whereas I am useless - and it makes them look good. Thankfully, I have a Toronto doctor - but she is a sole practitioner and I am afraid every time I go that she will announce her retirement, despite being 10 years my junior. It is almost impossible to get a doctor in Toronto or Ontario in general - and yes, you do have to be interviewed - and the doctors can turn you down. Comments (12)Eric was born with genetic hearing loss (cookie cutter loss). Didn't get aids until he started college. Was picked on in school... by teachers non the less!!! He learned to lip read at a VERY young age and his speech isn't effected by not being able to hear. I think it helped that his dad has severe genetic loss also. Eric has had two brands of aids and has given up on having them work for him. They do not hold up to sweat and he sweats LOTS! Most of his employers have been very understanding and have gotten him amplifiers for the phones and we search high and low for low phones for the house- got an ancient rotary phone that will wake the dead! Please have the parents keep the closed captioning on the TV at all times for the little guy. that way he will learn to read fast and hopefully, it will help him to learn to read lips. Also having it on all the time will make him feel less stigmatized about being the only one in the house that needs it. I use cc even when Eric isn't home. School should also offer any videos in cc without trouble (ADA laws require reasonable adaptions). Also, watch when they buy DVDs, not all come with cc and it is an "act of God" to get the store to take them back!!!!! Good luck for the little guy, Janie...See MoreWhat should my grandson call me?
Comments (47)Thanks, Chisue! The dear little guy was here yesterday, looking as sweet and beautiful as ever. He'll be two weeks old tomorrow. He nurses well and goes through the usual amount of diapers, but the pediatrics office says he's not gaining enough weight to satisfy them. I hope they don't ask my DIL to give him formula. This is what happened with my first baby, and of course supplementing reduced my milk supply, so the breastfeeding didn't last long after that. Both my daughters were very low on the weight charts, resulting in frequent conflict with the pediatricians. Both girls grew up healthy and small--just like my stepdaughters, whose body types they shared. The weight charts don't seem to allow for much individuality, and when the doctor wrote Failure to Thrive on my healthy, active second daughter's chart, I was seriously angry. My son was high on the weight charts, so I didn't have any more battles with the doctors. Not about that, anyway. LOL...See MoreGrandson doing what he loves best! And couldn't be more perfect....
