I'm not much of a tv series watcher like I used to be. Our son tells us that we should watch The Americans, because it is very (scarily) realistic in how other hostile countries infiltrate here. Maybe. I do enjoy Big Bang Theory and am looking forward to it's spin-off, Young Sheldon. And, I'm anxiously awaiting the next season of Designated Survivor, which I love and do watch every week. Other than that, I don't watch much tv these days, except for the morning and evening news, and some HGTV (mainly Property Brothers and Fixer Upper). Right now, DH and I and rewatching the tv miniseries, John Adams, which we own. It is so incredibly well-done . . . just fantastic!

Loved Big Little Lies, and the book was very good too. The first movie series was very close to the book, so I wonder how the second series will go. I’m in the middle of part two of Mrs Maisel. I love it, although some haven’t enjoyed the second part as much as the first, I find it to be full of surprises and beautiful costuming. And I like Tony Shalhoub in anything he has played in so there is that.

The castigation can end over the wrong word choice. A quick word choice perhaps better replaced with something else. Let's call it an "annoying, unwanted nickname" that for whatever reason is disliked. Your name is Allison, you hate being called Ally, and your siblings do so when they want to annoy you. I think that's what's happened in this thread. I didn't make up the issue, it's there. I pointed out that it was odd for a local to use it. Those making a weak and childish effort to be annoying by insisting on finding multiple instances of use (that everyone knows about) are welcome to do so. It's not particularly clever but the word doesn't bother me. Call me Ally if you want. Like most people around here, I don't use "Frisco". If you want to, go ahead. What is annoying is people making an effort to be annoying.

My daughter and I have also read the books. I saw the movie (or at least part of it on TV) with Nicole Kidman, and it was okay. My daughter has seen both the movie and has been watching the series, and her comment was that the casting was perfect in the movie, but it wasn't well executed, and that the series is well done, but the casting is off. We cut HBO off of our DirecTV package earlier this year, so I'm going to wait until all of the episodes are out (and also of Silicon Valley) and sign up for HBO GO, or whatever it is called for a month and binge watch.
