I would remove the white TV surround/cabinet completely. and hang the TV on the wall over a low console. The current TV unit both overwhelms and dates the room. Then I would go with dark wood tables but in a more transitional style to update a bit. I'd also remove that big scrolly piece of metal art from the living room wall. Nice room!

Not a Pro. Looks like you entertain a lot from the items you are choosing. The console that sounds like the right size. Take a look at the picture below...the height... and accessories. Keep accessories limited. One lamp, if there is room, may be all that is needed. No one wants to move so much around before entertaining. In fact, I would wait till you have the console in place before even thinking about accessorizing. Some inspiration:

Hi, you definitely have the space to go a bit longer with your console, I would either really dark wood or just black. But in case you go with a longer one I would suggest you find something that has two drawers but doesn't have a bottom shelf. If you go to large and it has a shelf and drawers it might be a bit too much for the space especially since you plan to go with a dark color which I agree with.
