Bosch DW--Cloudy glasses and dishes
Comments (7)If you have a whole house water softener, you likely are experiencing permanent etching due to too hot water washing your glassware and/or detergent damage due to too soft water. To see if you have a mineral film, due to hard water, or if you have permanent etching, soak one of your glasses overnight in white vinegar. If the film is gone, you have hard water and are experiencing a removable film, which is good news for you. You can either wash your glassware in vinegar every few weeks, or you can add Glass Magic to each wash and prevent the build up. If the film remains, you have permanent etching and will have to replace your glassware. If possible, have your water supply to the DW changed to a COLD water supply and by-pass your water softener. And then use the Glass Magic, which sould soften the wash water just enough to help prevent the hard water film that builds up over time. Good luck!...See MoreGlassware In DW Cloudy
Comments (5)I know this is late but just returned to this forum. I had been having problems with my dishwasher opening to dispense the liquid Cascade. So I bought some of the Cascade 2 in 1 Action Pacs, thinking I was to just drop them in the washer. Well, turns out they also had to go in the dispenser but when I put them in, the dispenser worked perfectly so I have been using them every since. DH and I both noticed that our plastic glasses that we love started looking clear again, not cloudy, just after I started using the Pacs. So I put some glassware in that I thought had etching and Viola! They came out clear and clean after one cycle! Don't know why, I always rinsed my dishes using Dawn, which these Pacs have in them as well as the Cascade in the dishwasher and a rinse agent, too. But if it works... You might want to try them just for kicks if you are still having a problem....See MoreDishaholics - Love Your Dishware-Glassware Cabinets?
Comments (31)Jmc, thank you. I will take a photo and post it. There are grooves in the bottom. Our cabinet guy was not thrilled with doing sliding cabinets, as he never had before. I saw them in an historic home and liked them a lot. Our cabinet guys are quite high end and I never thought to specify, but the grooves are plastic; in the historic home they were metal, fwiw. As for the cleats, it sounds scary to permanently affix them, but then I thought about it. In my old kitchen, i had the holes in the side so that you could move them, and never did in 9 years. My old kitchen had glass front cabs, but I had sheers inside on a tension rod so you couldn't really see the holes. This time, my DH pointed out that, since our cabs are glass with no fabirc and sit on the counter, you'd really see all those holes. I am very happy with our cleats. I just worked with the carpenter and my dishes to pick the placement. Come to think of it, I could have just copied the distances between shelves from my old kitchen .... I am so happy with our cabinets!...See MoreWhat happened to my glassware?
Comments (23)I'm pretty intuitive with judging reliability of an Ebay seller, I didn't realize I have to begin doing the same for Amazon. I hadn't even noticed 'third party'. There was an ice storm south of me that slowing things down. It was not adding up to two weeks past expected arrival date though. I had to attempt to contact the seller per Amazon rules, wait 48 hours before putting in a request for a refund. I got the refund. What I wanted was my merchandise. I'm pretty intuitive with judging reliability of an Ebay seller, I didn't realize I have to begin doing the same for Amazon. I hadn't even noticed 'third party'. My working glasses have a large number embedded on the bottoms. The size I'd like more of is 375. I can find the 500 new, not the 375....See Morejewelisfabulous
