I hate the marble floors--they are not like the sample....
Comments (38)Hi threeapples, just read your story for the first time tonight. I feel so very lucky because we just had two bathrooms done in marble flooring, one a white marble and cannot even imagine what I would have done!! We did not order over the internet but I NEVER CHECKED the boxes either. I never even considered that. You assume that you are getting tile like the sample!!! I also ordered a striped marble and had pieces numbered for install and that got screwed up so as to not align and I thought I was going to have a heart attack with that when I saw it but I CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT YOU DID WHEN YOU SAW THAT IT WAS NOT WHITE. IF YOU CAN PROVE THIS IS NOT STATUARIO, TALK TO INTERNET STORE AND SIMPLY SAY YOU CAN PROVE THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU ORDERED AND REGARDLESS OF 30 DAY STIPULATION IT IS NOT WHAT YOU PAID FOR. ---I WOULDN'T GIVE UP, YET ANYWAY!! Tell them you've had professionals out to confirm and that you will not settle. Have you considered the possibility of going right over this tile with NEW tile? We have radiant floor heating throughout our house and I think any stone product is a conductor of heat. GOOD LUCK!!...See MoreAnything I should know about my new marble countertop?
Comments (1)YES! Do not let any alcohol touch it, mouthwash, perfume, etc. Glass trays are nice to set things on to prevent rings. If you are using the space very hard and hurried, you may want to consult a marble expert for advise about a stronger sealer. Your discription sounds so beautiful, peach is my favorite but I haven't found much, more pink everywhere. Mine is white crystaline with pale grey, peach and coffee with cream grains. It is soft and I must be very careful but do not mind at all, for the beauty! Do you have a photo to share?...See MoreHelp - I hate my new backsplash!!!
Comments (12)Don't know how to help without pictures. From all that I have read here, the BS decision is the #1 decision nightmare. Feeling your pain here. In my case the actual tile came in the wrong color and crackle finish. My contractor did install it (knowing full well he may have to tear it all out) but with a change of grout color, it looks warmer. It actually looks like I knew what the heck I was doing :) He did have to rip some tile out around the garden window, b/c he not like how that running board looked, but there was no damage to the cabs. A good contractor will have the right tools to remove you tile carefully if that's the way you want to go. Take a deep breath, have a glass of wine, and don't rush into a hasty decision. Best of luck to you!...See MoreI hate my new kitchen
Comments (91)Pot lights in a perimeter pattern (about 12 inches from cabinets) the ceiling, a soffit with crown moulding over the cabinets, modern long SS cabinet handles, a pretty modern chandelier/ceiling light with personality to replace the fluorescent light, SS microwave, stove, and dishwasher to match the fridge..... SS appliances, pot lights, crown molding over a short soffit so cabinets appear to go to the ceiling, cool light fixture. Long handles on the cabinetry, again soffit to ceiling pot lights Interesting light over proposed/suggested island. The kitchen needs to be finished before you will feel comfortable in it; items are not relating to each other because you do not have enough items in the kitchen.......when you do have all the elements it will look 'finished' because it will be....See MoreL.
