What is the best yellow/apricot/white Buck & Austin?
Comments (17)I'm in a different climate than you are, but I adore the Austins. They're disease resistant even here in black spot central, deliciously fragrant, and very vigorous growers even in my challening garden conditions. Some of the strongest yellow types I have are Queen Nefertiti, Crocus Rose, and Jude the Obscure. Nefertiti seems to like the heat a little better than the others, but all those did well through the hottest most humid part of our hell-hot summer. I also have Graham Thomas and Golden Celebration, but they haven't shown themselves to be nearly as heat happy as the others. Despite some of the rave reviews I've read on websites about those two, I found them both disappointing in comparison. Abraham Darby is probably a no fail option anywhere...a true Timex of a rose here. But it can lean toward the pink side of apricot depending on weather. Yet if you could tolerate another truly unique pink...try Mortimer Sackler. Great unusual flower shape and a dream of a work horse rose. My personal favorite. Good luck with the garden fairies with whatever you choose. Just get the one that "speaks" to your heart the most. That's always the best place to start. :)...See MoreWhite cabinets look yellow?!
Comments (83)Glad it worked out for you Jenni! Light is the most important factor in how we perceive color, and off-whites are very difficult to get right. Most of them are tints of a hue (green, blue, red, orange, yellow, purple), which means they are created by adding white to the hue until the underlying color is almost imperceptible. (Most off-whites, by the way are created from the yellow or yellow/green colorway.) That color, or its complement (the opposite on the color wheel) can become very apparent when the light changes. It can be frustrating at first, but usually becomes less noticeable as you finish decorating the room. You can alter the interior lighting to achieve the effect you'd like, but outside lighting is what it is. If you have lots of green trees, a blue pool, or a very sunny day, the color can change. But that's just life!...See MoreBest lighting for kitchen- cabinets too creamy/yellow
Comments (6)"I've been experimenting with bulbs- 2700k are too yellow or pink- 5000k are way too bright." Remember that there is brightness (in lumens) and color temperature (in Kelvin). It is the latter that is the measure of the "yellowness" or "whiteness" of the light. If the color temperature seems right but the room is overlit, add an LED-compatible dimmer such as the Lutron Maestro MACL-153MR-WH....See MorePlease help with white paint selection and light bulb temp.
Comments (16)Thank you Heather! You have been really helpful. I am going with an electric oven and the side warming cabinet. I bake a lot, especially breads. When I make my breakfasts, I usually need something (oven) to keep bacon, potato's etc warm. I'm also finding, that because my husband is now working from home (I recently retired :) ) that keeping food warm for him is nice too. He's usually has conference calls that can keep him from a hot meal I've cooked. I'm keeping my Decor wall oven so will have access to two electric ovens. But having a small space to keep things warm should work pretty well. So, I'm excited to get this stove ordered. We will have to do a small remodel in our kitchen, new farmhouse sink and repositioning some existing cabinets. Yes, we are going to probably have to do something creative with the hood as well since the stove is a off measurement of 43"....See Morestephanied0wns
