My living room layout is very similar! I had my couch horizontal in front of your window creating a entryway, maybe put a console table behind the couch.

We are beyond disappointed in our architect. It has been a very frustrating process! I feel like we are at the point of no return though. We will be speaking with him tomorrow and we make a final decision then. To answer a couple of questions: the two staircases are bc the one in the playroom leads to an attic bedroom and the one in the mud room is going to a home office above the garage - it was supposed to be moved to the garage but wasn’t (more frustration). The Murphy door will likely be removed. I so badly wanted it to work out and thought it’d be a really cool feature but it’s making things more complicated. Again, the centering of the door was my idea to help the elevation work a little better. I would love for him to play around with the porch area/foyer to “make it work” but that’s just not who is is. Had I known this, we never would have hired him. Luckily I have a friend who has been very helpful (done most of the design work) but we’re both stumped here. Thank you everyone for the replies! If we end up changing dramatically I’ll post an update.

I like the general layout you have, with maybe Beverly's change to some chairs for lightness. Large end-table and lamp in the corner -- that leaves room next to the door for a smaller entry table with a drawer, if you need a place to drop mail or hide mittens. Large piece of art over the two chairs or loveseat. I'd try to use all art in this space, and keep the family photos in the more residential/private zones. You don't necessarily need decor around the TV, although some prefer it.

@decoenthusiaste sorry I should have clarified. I moved knowing that I would be buying new furniture, specifically new couches and a dining room set. I was looking more for advice on potential layouts rather than how to layout the room with the furniture I already have. My initial though was to angle a curved couch kiddy corner to the front door or maybe get an L shaped sectional, but I thought it would be weird to have part of a couch sticking out into the living room. It doesn't help that the supply chains are so backed up that most couches won't get in until February at this point. I have a 9 by 12 Persian rug for the room, as well as a runner to differentiate the entrance, though I don't know if both will fit (they're getting cleaned). I had four matching chairs, but one broke on the move here, and the prior move was not too kind to them either. I currently have no idea what to do with the screen; my place is more windows than walls. it has three panels and is the heaviest thing ever.
