Lotto blocks from 2013 - need binding suggestions

I won these hole in the barn door blocks in

February 2013. I’m a wee bit ashamed to say I just recently put them together and quilted. I had temporarily “lost” them after a move in 2014 but found them last month.

I arranged the blocks 4X5 and added a border around mimicking the frame in the block. Quilted a chain of swirls in the borders and a daisy-like overall design in the middle.

I need binding suggestions. I can do white or red but I was thinking of trying a bright or medium green or even a turquoise- just for fun. What do you think?

thanks to all of you that made the blocks. Undecided on where this will go - probably to my aunt (if I can’t make something else for her before thanksgiving when I’ll be seeing her).

Here's the finished quilt (If it appears cropped, click on the picture for a full view). Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I went with the same dark red as the inner border and corner blocks. I gifted this to my aunt last month and she was so happy. I told her how the lotto works, and she was touched that her quilt is from so many of you. There were 21 blocks (I used 20) from about 10 different quilters.

Thank you all for the blocks and for years of quilty inspiration. Almost everything I know about quilting is from this forum.

I played around with the binding by pulling colors from your beautiful quilt.

Gorgeous quilt! This was before I played, but loved this block and also when we did it in blue. Curious what you used for the backing?

Larri - the sample photos are awesome! You can really see the impact of the different colors.

oh my GOSH!! We have been away for a few days; just checked my email and found that I WON those gorgeous PINK blocks!! Thank you, THANK you, one and all...I can't wait to see them in person. I wasn't keen on the idea of 'pink' in the beginning, but once I made my blocks, well...I changed my mind! and then when the picture of the group together, oh my!! They are amazing. Not sure yet, but my thoughts are perhaps along the lines of getting my sisters to help....we could make a quilt for next year's Breast Cancer Awareness month....all four of us participate in some Breast Cancer charity or another..... Vasu, your border is perfect! Great job.

I think I would stick with the red and white theme and bind with red.

How about a red and white stripe on the bias? How wide can the binding be, so as not to cut off the points on the corners?

I would go with a dark red binding, solid or print. I like latifolia's suggestion of a stripe too. Your quilt looks great, Vasu.

Wow...that turned lovely! I'd go with black, red stripe or dark red for binding.

What a beautiful quilt! I don't remember that month. I'd go with the dark red, I wouldn't want anything to distract from the beautiful floral blocks.

Thank you so much for the mockups. They are very helpful. I’ll go with dark red. I love the red and white stripes but I don’t have any in my stash. If I go to the LQS I’ll come Away with way more than what I need :-)

The backing is a medium red mottled print. No worries about losing the points on the border - I had to chop one off already while squaring.

I know you already made your decision but I have to say I really like that teal color in the first mockup. :) Really makes all the other colors pop. But yes a deep red will also look really nice. :)
