Comments (38)Is Panic in Detroit a crispate? Paige's Pinata was always weak here. Palace Garden Beauty has been a bit frustrating because of sometimes quirky opening. Paradise Bar and Grill --more recent Hanson that has been sought after. Pink Lemonade Party --would be happier farther south Parable of the Net --comes off more pastel in garden Ohio Skies --have a hunch this will not be a strong grower in the garden (Hanson) Peggy Jeffcoat --lovely Part Time Princess --made a great show this past year Purify My Heart --seems to have been weaker the past few years Peggy Bass --lovely, but not really well budded Orange City --Dick recommended it, but it has been reluctant to bloom so far Purple Tempest --an old Webster that really attracted attention in 2017...See MoreBest Reds of the Season 2018
Comments (45)Wow, so many wonderful reds! I originally commented and uploaded pics but for some reason, the post disappeared after "Submit". It was a bit late then so I gave up. I just want to say that red is a color that is really hard to capture by photography. And yet, there are some pics on here that are just outstanding. I really like Debra's pics of Buddy's Red Head and Everything You Desire, Mantis's pic of Spiderman, Celest's Ruby Spider and Smuggler's Fire, Sherry's Red Volunteer, Brad's Acquire the Fire, Kay's Wispy Rays, and Julia's WHAT'S UP DOWN SOUTH. Some nice reds and red blends from my garden this year: Digital Dynamics Ring of Magnetism Karen Stephens Jim Weissenberger...See MoreBest Oranges of the Season 2018
Comments (32)Another vote for SPIRIT FOX. This is one of my best performing daylilies and exceeds it's registered height of 27".....it's around 3 feet here. It is tall and dazzling so I planted it by the porch where it commands attention: CLOSEUP SHOT: VENUS' FIRE This one is TALL and my husband's favorite. He doesn't even notice my daylilies and in fact, has only commented on Claudine's Charm and Venus' Fire in all the years he's mown the lawn.....lol. Since she managed to turn hubby's head, she's in my top 3.closeup shot: ALABAMA JUBILEE Another oldie, but goodie. Great color and plant habits. RUNNERUPS..... PANIC IN DETROIT This is a skyscraper in the garden! Great color and towering, it commands attention. OKTOBERFEST Keeps pumping out multitudes of happy flowers, nice and tall and well branched. PRIMAL SCREAM, color is hard to beat VT AUTUMN FIRES. A late bloomer that will bloom for over 2 months every year....See MoreBest Coral Daylilies of the 2018 Season
Comments (17)I don't seem to have many in this color range. The first two below are some of my very best daylilies..... TREASURE OF THE SOUTHWEST This one is one of my absolute favorites of my daylilies and I seem to take it's photo the most....it and Jerry Hyatt. (I found at least a dozen shots I took this summer). There are all the colors of a sunset in this one. It makes a tremendous clump that blooms endlessly with multiple scapes and buds, is super-robust and healthy and the substance holds up in the heat and the cold. In the heat it has more coral tones..... in cool weather it takes on more pink tones..... either way, it's gorgeous! SOUTH SEAS This golden oldie can not be beat for both brilliant color, reliable performance, hardiness and vigor. I will never be without this one. VT BETSY Not well known or widely grown, this Olallie late-bloomer will keep pumping out blooms dozens at a time well into September. Narrow grass-like foliage and dainty stems with fluttering blooms that remind me of butterflies in the breeze. RUNNER UPS..... This one could potentially be a favorite in future years. It's relatively new so it hasn't proven itself but the color has the 'wow factor'..... SMOKY MOUNTAIN AUTUMN BITTERSWEET DESTINY This is a daylily I tucked away in an obscure part of the garden and I always mean to move it where it can shine because the color is wonderful....See More- 5 years ago
