I wouldn't want glass... i like the metal food and biscuit canisters shown above! I currently keep puppy food in a large metal popcorn container that was given to my husb during the holidays- it is cute with golden retriever puppies on it, so I decided to use it... I pour in food from 30 pound bag- probably holds about 8lbs at a time... this is a temporary thing for me tho since once the puppy food is stopped, the food is kept in large bins in the laundry room...

Your rooms are very nicely decorated but the personal touch is somehow missing. Books, plants, art that is meaningful to you (a painting over the mantel would give the room some warmth) would add personality. The painting in the dining room seems rather generic. Also, find larger pillows in stronger colors for the couches in the living room. Moving all the furniture onto the rug (the front legs at least) would be the first step because that is one reason why the room looks rather disjointed. Floor lamps which cast a soft yellowish glow instead of the harsh overhead lights will make a huge difference.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I have a bath mat to put down when the in laws are here to avoid any potential slips. (I don't leave it out all the time because it just makes it harder for me to clean the dog hair from the floors!) I have two towels and am adding two hooks behind door in case they need others. The hydrangeas are real (though admittedly don't look as good this time of year as in the spring). I will see if I can dig up something a little more stable. I will keep my eyes open for something fun for over the toilet.

Sharing pics of chairs I am thinking to match with sofa. Will they look good with navy blue color sofa?
