Hey, kissing....I was sent over here by a friend to see your great images. You can usually find me in the Pests and Diseases Forum. The top one appears to be a kaydid nymph; not usually considered too much of a pest though they do munch on plants. I don't usually do anything when I see a katydid. The second one is one of the sharpshooters. That would be a type of leaf hopper. Unlike adult Cicadas, which cause very little problem for our plants by feeding, sharpshooters and leaf hoppers significantly weaken plants if in large enough numbers. They are most infamous, however, for being vectors of a variety of plant diseases. Leaf hoppers are related to Cicadas, but they are also kin to aphids, mealybugs, and scale insects! They don't live in the ground for part of their life cycle, however. I agree that it's beautiful...some of the prettiest insects on the planet are leaf hoppers of some kind, I think. Don't know what the beetle might be. He's not a bombardier beetle, though. Whatever it is, it's not a juvenile (nymph). The juveniles of all beetles are some sort of grub or other odd looking creature that do not remotely resemble what they'll turn out to be after they pupate into their adult form. (Think about ladybugs and their youngsters, for example.) Anyway, if I could see another picture or two of the beetle, I might be able to narrow it down. Of most interest to me are the details of the antennae as well as the elytra (wing coverings-the 'shell'). If you are able to get more images of the beetle, consider posting them in the Pests and Diseases Forum (aka Plant Clinic Forum). There are quite a few people over there who love a good 'bug search'. It's too distant for a certain identification, but it looks like one of the assassin bug nymphs (babies), which are helpful predators in the garden. I've been finding lots of wheelbug (a type of assassin bug) nymphs in my perennial garden of late.

WOW!!! Thanks! Floridays you Rock! Little Leaf Notcher - Artipus floridanus (Horn) It looks a lot like the little Leaf Notcher and its large! I already sprayed my tree twice already with the seven dust. My tree looking a little better but don't know if it really worked. Only time will tell. Right now, tons of new leaves/branches just formed on my mango trees. I have given my little babies a lot of some tender loving care, and it shows :-) Growing nicely and fast! Fertilizer doing well. Since they are flightless, I can load some poison powder on the base of the tree. I see some lizards on my tree and they are my best friend since they eat those damn bugs! BTW, the Seven dust is harmless to animals and plants... Just bugz. Well, when my tree bloom I know I will need it clear of that stuff so the honey bees can fertilize them :-) Any recommendations to kill those buggers? Thanks so much you guys.

And another point...if you are just seeing the german roaches...they might be coming in from the grocery store! A few years back, I remember finding a roach in my pantry. Threw out mostly every thing and sprayed the whole thing down. Then about a week later, I was carrying my bags (a mix of plastic and paper) into the house from the car. I would put them on the floor and then go out to get more bags. On about my third trip, I noticed 2 german roaches walking right out of the bags on the floor! Needless to say, I stopped shopping at that store and now use my own bags. I can vouch for Publix too (it was NOT the store I had shopped at on the roach bag day!), but one day while shopping I noticed one roach near the rice section. I told some teenage stock boy thinking he is probably going to ignore what I just told him! Instead about 10 minutes, he came running up behind me and said "can you come back and show me exactly where you saw the roach?". I went back with him and lo and behold the manager, the assistant manager and the stock boy had completely cleared off the rice shelves, bagged everything up into sealed bad garbage bags and they were cleaning the shelves! That is my kind of store!!!
