Chimney Stone Bed/Shade Garden UPDATE(Pictures)
Comments (18)Looks like you have invested a lot of work into this project and it is looking great. You mentioned lack of funds, so I thought I would mention recycled brick as a possibility for a patio. I have a big pond on the south of the house and just a little one with a waterfall close to the house at the edge of our new patio on the north side. Love to sit there and watch the fish and bullfrogs. We got our rocks off the farm too. Water feature was our spring project 2010, and we only "bought" the liner and pump. DH made a sand filter for the water out of an old pail and :) you guessed it, sand. Works great. Whoops, also bought the funky looking water plant in the back of the upper section. Upper pond section is made from recycled wood frame with notch cut out for water to spill into lower section. Good luck with your project, have fun :)...See MoreOutdated exterior- how do I update this stone wall?
Comments (1)I don't think you can update stone... It is a bit of melting pot of styles, isn't it? The roof seems to go with the stone, but neither of those things go with the rest of the house. The star needs to go and you need a new light. Different paint would do a lot, but I would see about removing the stone and adding wood...I doubt you could match the brick, and I think wood would be a better choice anyway...something like the vertical panels on this house......See Morehelp! lava rock exterior needs some love
Comments (1)Congratulations on your new home. Its beautiful. I too, love your stone. However, I think the paint itself looks a bit pink on my monitor at least. Your roof appears to be a shade of lighter brown. Your stones, appear to have a lot of brown in them. I would pick a color from that stone, to paint the house itself. Gray isnt the color you are looking for though, with your stone, and roof color. Sorry. I too, love gray, but, sometimes, it just doesnt work with what exists....See MoreHow can I make my home's exterior look more mid century modern?
Comments (5)I don't like the dark paint. With your light roof and light stone it looks like someone tied a dark green ribbon around the top of your house. A lighter color would be an improvement. I dislike the planters and would remove them if possible. I would remove the rail if it is not needed for safety. It is probably original but it makes the door seem inaccessible You can buy a full view storm door and paint it and the house door the same color. I love your lamp post. Do you have a porch light? I made an amateurish image of a lighter house with no planters. Do you think the stone is original?...See Moresheloveslayouts
