Sealer for natural stone (rattlesnake) interior wall

There are several walls inside a new home built using natural limestone called rattlesnake here in Texas. What sealer, penetrator, impregnator, acrylic, water based, glossy, enhancer, etc.
should be used? I don't mind the color as is or if it darkens slightly that won't me a problem either. Goal is to minimize dust, prevent staining, make it easier to wipe clean, and most importantly, do it right the first time so it doesn't have to be done for as many years as possible.

5 years agoJoseph, Where do you get the Tenax Proseal? Have you heard of or have experiences with TSSPRO 700CS Clear Surface Sealer? I am looking into the latter product for use on the exterior stone. (same stone as interior) There is only a very small area on the northside in an alcove with an overhand and no chance to get any sunlight that has showed the beginnings of mildew growth. I think I need to take care of it straight away but also consider sealing either this small area, the entire alcove, the alcove and North facing wall, or possibly the entire home to prevent problems later on. What do you think? Is sealing the entire house going over board? Here is pic with the beginnings of mildew forming near the hose bib area.

Comments (9)Thanks, raehelen. I don't have a pic yet -- still working off the sample boards from the tile shop. It is time to choose between Emil Ceramica Keystone Fire or Cliffside in beige bluff (maker unknown, but distributed by Florida Tile). The mosaic is a tumbled travertine 1x1 from Home Depot. It goes well with either tile choice ... when it's dry. Here's a link to a poor picture or two of Cliffside; Keystone link below: http://www.floridatile.com/products/cliffside Considerations for Keystone: Wonderful movement (but may be rather busy for a small room) Comes in a wider variety of sizes, including 6x6 and various trim pieces, so we could use 12x12 on the floor and 6x6 on the wall But it's slightly darker and slightly more expensive. Considerations for Cliffside: Very nice texture, almost like sand There are no good installation pictures available Its smallest size is 12x12, so we'd use 18x18 on the floor, set diagonally, and 12x12 on the wall. I don't think bullnose is available, so we'll have to figure out something for that. Vanity is Magickwoods Sonata; fixtures are chrome. Sconces are Avia from Restoration Hardware. Our home is out in the woods in New England. I'm hoping for a rustic Zen sort of look -- originally wanted tumbled slate, but this room gets no natural light, so my husband nixed that. So I proposed tumbled noce travertine and he felt it was still too dark. My husband wants white tile, but I'm adamantly against it, unless we go with really expensive handmade tile, and he's adamantly against that. This is a very occasional use guest bathroom. Comments (106)I'm not sure I'd want to use buckshot of any kind because of ricochet concirns, but there are rounds made for a .22 cal pistol called snake rounds. They have 150-175 very small pellets that do a pretty good job of dispatching snakes, scorpions and the like. Although I haven't had the opportunity to try it on a snake, I've known other that have and they supposedly work well. I have used them on scorpions with wonderfully interisting results. Because the pellets are small it's very effective at close range, but is no threat at longer range (such as the unintended stray shot) or from ricochet. Just google "snake round ammunition" to find a place to get them. Obviously, check your local laws on their use and possession and discharge of a firearm of any kind. BTW winged mammal, all animals protect their selves, most protect their family and territory (home). Often times one animal will intrude on another animals space and conflict ensues. I, and I suspect most of us don't go out of our way to kill anything we don't intend on eating, but like all animals, we may move into an area and stake our claim to our homes, protect it and our family. That's natures way. We are a part of nature. Republican? Well, we all have to choose between two evils. I tossed my coin and it came up heads. Comments (22)Thanks for the laugh about "purified angel's tears"! I'm really leaning towards marble in the shower area...I did some internet research and read that a diluted bleach solution is okay. I'm not sure what think! I printed out catmom's reply (THANK YOU!)with all the product names in case we decide to go with natural stone. Went tile looking again today and saw some pretty porcelains, which I know are much less maintenance. Nothing is "set in stone" LOL:)...See Moreleelee
